Penultimate Staff Bulletin!!
Here we are. Two weeks of school left. Last Friday was a blast. Thank you for your energy and enthusiasm during our assembly and and club carnival. The day was a blast! I so believe that staff and students need a day like this to blow off some steam and have a great time. I would like to thank Leadership and Cindy Wilgus for their organization and support of such a fun day. The energy in the air was contagious. Another big shout out to Don Squires for his work on a beautiful yearbook and a streamlined and efficient distribution of the books. Kids and staff were excited to see the product and look for themselves inside. Stay focused. We are almost there.
This is the second to last Staff Bulletin of the year. The last edition will be sent next week and then there won't be anymore until fall. I will be sending updates over the summer regarding our beginning of the year dates and times. This publication is going on vacation until the first week of school next year. Please be sure to check your email in August. Also be sure to check in with our website, which will be new and amazing.

In The Know
Keeping Tabs - Please make sure you are keeping students in class. If they need to go to the library make sure they have a pass so that it is easier for Campus Supervision and the Library to verify where they are supposed to be.
Graduation - Please consider attending graduation and recognizing and congratulating our students who have worked hard to reach this important milestone.
Budget - We have closed spending for the 2017-2018 school year. Any future requests will need to be processed through the 2018-2019 budget.
Staff Get Together - We are still on for a staff BBQ/Get Together on Friday 6/15. We are working on possibly shifting locations. The event is still on for 4pm until Taxi's no longer provide service. We will provide scrumptious smoked tritip, some other yummy meats, and a starter pack on beverages. It will be pot lucky is style. If you could bring a side and a beverage of choice we will have plenty to go around. The location will be announced later this week. Please put it on your calendar.

Kim Roellig - You are to be congratulated for your constant focus on students and their well being. Kim regularly makes sure that students have their dental health needs attended to . In her recent trips to the dentist (and this number keeps rising) she has taken 8 students to get support for 15 sealants, 35 cavities, 4 cases of gingivitis, and 2 with peridontitis. One student had 9 cavities and peridontitis, on student had 7 cavities. 2 more had 5. This may be the very first dental visit some of these young people have ever had.Nurse Kim also solicits for financial support so that families can continue to receive dental repairs and have support for transportation. This is social justice work at the core. I am really proud of the work that you do for our kids. Thank you so much for your heart. You demonstrate compassion in authentic and tangible ways. I appreciate you.
Senior Awards Night - Our Senior Awards night was a well organized and thoughtful evening of recognition to well deserving students. Thank you to all teachers who were able to share their time in honoring our many hard working students. Special thanks go out to Sheree Houck, Mary Beth Hepp Elam, Katy McAulliffe, and Shannon Roseta for their coordination and organization of the evening. Additional thanks go out to all of our custodians for their help in supporting the room space and clean up. A super big thank you to Churchill senior Lydia Genz who hand lettered all of the Senior Awards certificates. Your handwriting is exquisite. You gave a personal touch to every award. Thank you for your willingness and patience to artfully and skillfully recognize each senior award.
Officer Johns - I want to thank you for your daily and unwavering willingness to attend to issues and complaints as they come to us. Your spirit of looking into anything that needs attention is refreshing during the end of the year. This time of year our patience and composure can erode and your positive and supportive approach to dealing with these stressors is contagious. Thanks for keeping the focus on our community and our students safety.
Defending 5A state champion Churchill Lancer Baseball Team won in the quarterfinals at Pendleton High School. Unfortunately, the state semi-finals winner fell to another school. I am proud of the season our team had this year. Thank you Kenny Niles for your leadership and inspiration you give to our kids.
