We understand this is something none of us could have imagined, let alone prepare for so the challenges are real. Please remember that we are ALL learning together and to reach out for help when you need it. We are striving to provide as many resources as possible.
We will get through this and be better for it! Our kids will have many stories to tell and so will we!

SCHOOL CLOSURE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SCHOOL YEAR
Date of Original Communication: April 6, 2020
Dear NLMUSD Community,
In my last communication with you, I shared that we were aiming to return to school on Tuesday, May 5th. Unfortunately, according to our public health leaders, the peak of COVID-19 pandemic is yet to come. As social distancing practices remain vital, the safety of our students and staff continue to be our top priority.
Therefore, this evening, the Board of Education passed a resolution to extend school closures through the end of this academic year (June 2, 2020).
Please be advised that although schools will be physically closed, Distance Learning will continue through the end of the 2019-2020 school year, except during the spring break (April 10-17th). Our teachers and Educational Services professionals will continue to work tirelessly to maximize our virtual learning portal as well as individualized lessons for distance learning.
Despite school closures, our dedicated Nutrition Services staff will continue to provide free grab-and-go meals for all children 18 and under regardless of their school of attendance. Meals are available on Wednesdays. Please see the locations below.
Please note that there will be no food distribution during the spring break.
We recognize the importance of end of the year celebrations for our wonderful students and families, especially for our seniors. In the absence of a traditional graduation ceremony, we are considering different options for our amazing seniors to celebrate their well-deserved accomplishments as they enter a new phase in their lives. We will continue to work closely with our students, staff, and families to develop meaningful experiences for our students. I invite you to share your innovative ideas with us.
Once again, I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to each and every one of our employees for their unwavering commitment to our students and families during these unprecedented times. You are a blessing to the entire NLMUSD community, and I am honored to be your Superintendent.
Additionally, I would like to thank our Board of Education for their continuous support as we navigate these uncharted waters.
On behalf of the Board of Education, please accept my heartfelt gratitude for your patience, support, and partnership during these tumultuous times as we continue to fulfill our mission of Every Student. Future Ready. Our Promise!
With gratitude,
Hasmik J. Danielian,
Superintendent
