Sprague School
Join us in the Health Moves Minds Walk
In just a month, Sprague School students will be invited to participate in the “Health Moves Minds Walk.” We encourage students to participate in this fundraiser that benefits health and physical education programs focusing on wellness and mental health. Also, this year a portion of our proceeds will go to our school to help replenish recess equipment, which all students at Sprague can enjoy.
During the day on Thursday, April 18, in school activity, Health Moves Minds Walk Sprague students, accompanied by teachers, will walk from Sprague to Ryerson Woods and back. The walk is designed to educate our students and staff on the importance of overall wellness and mental health, with further education occurring in physical education classes at school. It is through this program that we can inspire healthy habits and teach kids to thrive physically and emotionally.
We look forward to your child’s participation in our Health Moves Minds School Walk event. Please take a moment to fill out the online permission form, to give consent for your child’s participation in this event and to have a popsicle at the end of the walk.
- Students without parental permission will not be allowed to walk, so please be sure to fill out the online permission form.
Support the Health Moves Minds Walk
Please support the Health Moves Minds Walk using Sprague's FUNdraising Page. Click "Join Team” when registering your child to ensure your child can be recognized for any incentives they may acquire through donations. If you don’t want your child to be recognized for donations or incentives they accomplish, then click “Donate Now” when registering a donation. We will not be accepting cash or check donations for this event. Although there is no obligation to donate, please consider encouraging your child to ask friends, trusted neighbors, and relatives to contribute toward this worthy cause.
The Sprague incentive document has all the information in regard to the student incentives for this event.
- Online donations must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 12, in order to be considered for the incentives.
- Donations are due prior to the walk so that we can disperse any prizes for $25 or more before the end of the school year.
Questions?
For your convenience, we have provided you with Frequently Asked Questions about the event and fundraiser. Parents, please feel free to contact Customer Care at healthmovesminds@shapeamerica.org if you have any technical questions when registering.
Across the country, today’s children and adolescents do not get enough physical activity and are struggling with anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. Understanding these challenges, promoting an active school environment, and teaching children how to cope with stress, and to be kind and respectful of one another can make all the difference.
Thank you, in advance, for supporting this worthy cause. Our hope is to create a meaningful experience for your child to learn about the importance of wellness and mental health.
Sincerely,
Mr. John Solis and Mr. John L’Heureux
