THREE HERB KOHL AWARD WINNERS!
We are proud to announce Agricultural Sciences teacher Kim Yohn, along with Seniors Isabelle Haeft and Lindsey Radermacher, have been recognized by the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation.
Superintendent Jeff Walters expressed immense pride stating, “This accolade truly reflects Ms. Yohn's dedication to excellence and her profound impact on her students each day. The achievements of Isabelle and Lindsay are also exciting as they embody the vibrant spirit and scholarly excellence of HUHS inside and outside the classroom.”
Kim Yohn, recognized with a Teacher Fellowship award, shares her gratitude, “The Herb Kohl Fellow award to me is a reminder that being a good teacher is about, more than anything, the community." Her passion for teaching and creating a collaborative environment shines through as she says her colleagues were instrumental in helping achieve this award.
Students Isabelle Haeft and Lindsey Radermacher have each been honored with a significant $10,000 Student Excellence and Initiative Scholarship. Isabelle Haeft says, “I am honored and excited to accept this award and scholarship! I am grateful to have this support my education.”
Similarly, Lindsay Radermacher voiced her gratitude, stressing the role of her support system, “This scholarship is a direct reflection of the support and mentoring I received from my family, my school, and my community.”
In a touching note, teacher Kim Yohn added, “I also feel pretty honored to be recognized in the same year that my FFA president, Izzy, is being recognized. Students like Izzy are why I do what I do."
In recognition of Yohn's accomplishments, both she and HUHS will benefit from grants of $6,000 each to encourage ongoing educational innovation.
The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation's expansive generosity continues to enlighten Wisconsin's public schools. With 304 phenomenal students, teachers, and administrators being celebrated in 2024 for their impressive endeavors, the Foundation carries on the legacy of its late founder, former U.S. Senator, and philanthropist Herb Kohl.
Dedicated educators, like Kim Yohn, and the exuberance of academic achievers like Isabelle and Lindsay reaffirm our commitment to education here and beyond. The entire HUHS community extends sincere congratulations to their award winners and a heartfelt thank you to Herb Kohl and his Educational Foundation for their unwavering commitment to public education.
SEE THE MOMENT MS. DUBNICKA FOUND OUT!
Congratulations to Math Teacher Ms. Christine Dubnicka! This honor is well-served and she will also be honored by our School Board and the Hartford Rotary next month.
Each year, HUHS recognizes a staff member as the Educator of the Year in recognition of his or her
outstanding service to this school and its students both in and out of the classroom. This year,
students and staff submitted nominations on behalf of 23 HUHS educators for this award.
From this distinguished list of candidates, a committee of eight students and four staff members met to select this year’s winner. Thank you to all those who took the time and effort to recognize staff through the nomination process and also the selection committee for their work.

If you struggle to get more than a “nothing” when asking your child what they did in school today, try these questions instead!
- Tell me about a moment today when you felt excited about what you were learning.
- Were there any moments today when you felt proud of yourself?
- What are you looking forward to tomorrow?
