Centerview families:
As a Centerview staff, we are looking forward to the 9:20 a.m. school bell to ring tomorrow morning; officially welcoming many of our students back to the building. The last couple days staff have been arranging their learning spaces, working in teams to design lessons and preparing resources and just getting geeked about our students joining us for learning. I’m sure the enthusiasm is there for you as parents too and certainly our students, as we prepare for tomorrow’s morning bell.
For those students and families returning to the Centerview building tomorrow, please check out the important reminders in today’s newsletter– about:
- health screening
- drop off and dismissal information
- when to call the attendance line
- other important information for our return to the building.
We ask for your patience and understanding. This will be the first time a majority of our students are in the building at the same time this year and we can expect growing pains in these first days back. We appreciate your partnership and patience. Know that I’m a phone call away if you’d like to chat.
To my Extended Flexible Learning students, families, and staff - we do miss your smiles and energy in the building. However, I fully support each of you and the next steps you are taking with learning and teaching. I applaud your continued efforts and focus as you continue to grow with our EFL learning model.
As if returning to Centerview this week wasn’t exciting enough, on Monday, Spring Lake Park Schools received notification from the state about our first doses of COVID-19 vaccine for school staff. We were allocated 13 doses (about 1.5% of staff) for this first round of vaccinations which will begin this week. We are prioritizing vaccinations for those at the highest risk following guidance from the state. While state supply is limited and our first allocation is small, this is an encouraging step forward in this pandemic year.
So, whether you are returning to Centerview tomorrow or continuing in Extended Flexible Learning, I wish you a good day of learning. Let’s do this…we’ve had this…we’ve got this!
Thanks to each of you! Stay strong, stay healthy!
Take care,
Mike
For Extended Flex Learning Families: Transitions continue
Greetings,
The Extended Flexible Learning staff is looking forward to seeing students again tomorrow, Thursday, January 21. Your children may have the opportunity to meet new classmates, as we have had some slight roster changes as a result of this latest transition.
I want to welcome families and students who are new to distance learning. As an Extended Flexible Learning community, we have experienced much success thus far and I am confident that your student(s) will also.
This newsletter contains great information that may be of interest to you (for example 2021-2022 school calendar, information on Kindergarten enrollment and other topics). Make sure you check it out and please reach out to me with any questions or needs.
Take care,
Kimberly Fehringer

Arrival and Dismissal
When watching students arrive to and dismiss from Centerview Elementary each day, you see lots of smiles and energy on the faces of our little people.
As we jump back into students on campus at Centerview, here are the expectations for dropping off and picking up your child(ren). Our #1 priority is to see that arrival and dismissal is done in an orderly fashion, so our students, staff and our families are safe.
With the COVID-19 Epidemic, more students will be dropped off and picked up each day by parents and family members; which will result in longer lines. Our combined efforts in following the subsequent procedures will ensure that our students and our families are safe each day.
Drop-off
- All students, not riding the bus, can be dropped off curbside at the front of the school each day between 8:45-9:20 a.m. When dropping off, please have your student(s) ready to get out once you have pulled up to the yellow curb.
- Families are not allowed to walk their student(s) to the front of the school from the parking lot. PLEASE do not drop children off in the parking lot and have them walk up to the school on their own or expect them to enter the parking lot without an adult. There will be no crossing guard and we are keeping in mind social distancing.
- Students arriving between 8:45-9:10 a.m. will enter and wait in the gymnasium (door #14) until the 9:10 a.m. bell rings and they are dismissed to their classroom. Supervision will be present in the gym, masks and social distance expectations will be in place and students will be self-directed in their identified spot.
- Students arriving between 9:10-9:20 a.m. will enter through the front entrance of the school (door #1) and immediately proceed to their classroom.
Pick-up
- All students, not riding the bus, can be picked up curbside at the front of the school each day between, 3:55-4:30 p.m.
- Students will be brought from their classroom to the gymnasium at 3:50 p.m. each day, continuing to wear their masks and social distance.
- When families arrive curbside to pick up, authorized family and friends will be matched by number, and the student(s) will be dismissed.
- If you have not received or you need a car number, call the office for next steps – 763-600-5500
- As signs indicate, there will be no parking and leaving a car unattended on the yellow curb.
- We will not have a crossing guard to monitor the crosswalk as we have in the past.
- Families are not allowed to walk up to the gymnasium to pick-up their student(s) from the front of the school parking lot.
- If there is a change to your child’s pickup routine, you must call the office before 3:30 p.m. to make the change.
- Parents are not allowed to take a child off the bus to conclude the day. Please go directly to the office if you would like to have your child taken off the bus at dismissal.
- Ask! If you have questions, please stop in the office and we would be glad to sit down and talk with you regarding the safety and security of your child/ren.
To ensure these procedures are followed, the supervisory staff at arrival and dismissal will be reminding parents and family members if necessary. Please follow the direction of your Centerview Staff. If you have any questions or need clarification, please contact me at your convenience. Your efforts and attentiveness are appreciated.

Winter Gear
Make sure your child's immunization records are up-to-date by February 1
All students in Spring Lake Park Schools, both in-person and extended flexible learning (distance), must comply with Minnesota Immunization Laws. All immunizations need to be up-to-date by Monday, February 1. Students who are not up-to-date on immunizations by Monday, February 1 will not be able to come to school. Minnesota School Immunization Laws require ALL students enrolled in school to be immunized against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis, hepatitis B, meningitis and varicella.
The only exceptions are:
- A student has had the chickenpox virus
- Medical exemption with paperwork from your provider
- Conscientious exemption with notarized exemption form
If you believe your child's records need to be updated with proof of immunizations, please bring or send these to your school nurse or call for verification. Learn more about immunizations at SLP and find a downloadable immunization form.
