Cedar Grove Friday Flash
January 18, 2019
Dear Cedar Grove Families,
Harris Teeter’s Together In Education program gives schools a chance to earn funds when you link your VIC card and shop Harris Teeter brands. Harris Teeter has donated over $27.8 million to Together In Education schools since 1998!
When you shop Harris Teeter brands, a percentage of your purchase is donated to the school that your VIC card is linked to. There are NO LIMITS to how much a school can earn or no extra charges to you. By simply linking your VIC card, you will be helping our school. If you are not yet a member of My Harris Teeter, please sign up for an account on the website below so you can link your VIC card. Our school account number is 2544. Thank you for supporting our school!

If your child has outgrown some of his or her clothing, the health room is in need of pants and underwear. The greatest need is for boys and girls for grades kindergarten through 3rd grade. Only sweatpants or stretchy pants are needed. Thank you!
Mrs. Annie Kim, our wonderful art teacher, has created an Instagram account for our Cedar Grove artists. The link for the account is below.

Summer School - Save the Date!
Cedar Grove will once again offer summer school on July 15-August 2, 2019 to students entering kindergarten through 5th grades for the 2019-2020 school year. All students are welcome, regardless of your child's school assignment for next year. Limited bus transportation will be available, including to and from the Montgomery County Summer Fun Center(s) at Sally Ride ES and/or Wilson Wims ES. More information to follow.
How to Access Online Resources at Home
Dear parents -- we are very excited that our students want to use our online resources at home. Because the logon/password information is proprietary to Cedar Grove and MCPS, only our students can access the document. Please have your student log on to Chrome as they do at school (same user name and password) and then open Mr. Derby and Mrs. German's Friday Flash from our school Homepage. When you click on the Media Monthly Newsletter, under "Resources," you will always find the link to our online subscriptions. In addition, our students in grades 3 through 5 have this document in their media classroom, as well. We hope you and your students enjoy the resources at home as much as we do at school!

Science Expo
We are excited once again to be hosting a non-competitive Science Expo on the evening of Thursday, February 21, 2019! Your child should have received a SCIENCE EXPO application this past Monday, January 7th. The application is due by Friday, January 18th. You may turn in completed applications (front and back with parent signature) to your homeroom teacher as soon as you complete them. If you are working with a partner, you both need to turn in a separate application. Your project must be an experiment that goes through the inquiry process. Examples of testable questions and more details are included in the planning guide that is attached to the application. If you have any questions, please contact your homeroom teacher. You may also contact: Stephen Oedemann, Stephen_C_Oedemann@mcpsmd.org or Terrie Ward, Terrie_L_Ward@mcpsmd.org. We are looking forward to a fun and informative evening!
