Ms. Chandler's Counseling Corner
December 2020
Hello Families,
I hope you all have a wonderful and safe winter break! Before you go, I want to share some resources for the month of December.
In a month, I will begin implementing a curriculum within classrooms called the ToolBox Curriculum. Focusing primarily on social and emotional learning, these tools will allow your child(ren) to manage their emotional, academic, and social success. The 12 tools we will use at school is a breathing tool, a quiet/safe place tool, listening tool, an empathy tool, a personal space tool, using our words tool, a garbage can tool, taking time tool, a please & thank you tool, an apology and forgiveness tool, a patience tool, and a courage tool. A toolbox has two parts, the box itself and the tools inside it. The tools represent the qualities inside of us and give us an understanding on how to navigate life's challenges successfully. The tools can also be used at home.
COVID has added some elevated anxiety, & no doubt thrown a wrench in some holiday plans. Within this newsletter I have added some resources to use at home.
Sincerely,
Ms. Chandler
