The Last Olympian
The Last Olympian was written by Rick Riordan. The genre is Greek mythology, fantasy adventure.
Rating of the Book
I give this book a 5/5 because it is one of my favorite books so far. This book makes you feel so many emotions. In one part of the book you might feel bad for the characters. In the other you'll feel warm and fuzzy because of the cute things that happened.
Protagonist
The protagonist of this story is Percy Jackson. He is a brave demi-god who is trying to stop the monsters and Titans from taking over Olympus. He may be dumb at times, but when it comes down to making quick decisions he's got it.
Antagonists
The antagonists are mainly Kronos, Luke, the Titans, and monsters. They are the ones who are trying to take over Olympus. They'll do anything it takes to win. Luke went into the River Styx so he could become invincible (talk about being insane).
Settings
The setting takes place in modern day Manhattan. They do travels to other places though like the Underworld and Olympus.
Theme
The theme in The Last Olympian is that there are times in our lives where we have to make difficult decisions where we don't know the outcome until the choice is made. It could be good or it could be bad, its the choices we make in life that count. An example would be when the prophecy says, "A half-blood of the eldest gods shall reach sixteen against all odds. See the world in endless sleep, the hero's soul, cursed blade shall reap. A single choice shall end his days. Olympus to preserve or raze." When Percy finishes reading it he thinks that when he turns sixteen in a few days that he's going to be killed by a cursed blade, but later on when he has to make a decision he realizes what the Great Prophecy was talking about when it said a single choice shall end his days, and the cursed blade that would take a soul.
Conflict
One of the conflicts in the story is Character vs. Self because Percy is constantly fighting his fears and with himself in his mind on what to do . Example: "They all looked at me, waiting for a decision. I couldn't afford to show how panicked I felt, even if things seemed hopeless. "We keep fighting," I said."
Memorable Quotes
"The end of the world started when a Pegasus landed on the hood of my car."
" A half-blood of the eldest gods
Shall reach sixteen against the odds
And see the world in endless sleep
The hero's soul, cursed blade shall reap
A single choice shall end his days
Olympus to preserve or raze."
