Types Of Government In The Colonies
Charter - Rhode Island and Connecticut settlers were giving a grant of rights and privileges to establish a colony. These colonies elected their own own governors and members of a legislature.
Proprietary - Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania settlers were ruled proprietors which were individuals or groups to whom Great Britain granted land. They were generally were free to rule as they wished.
Royal - Georgia, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia settlers were directly ruled from Great Britain. The king appointed a governor and council.

Voting Rights
Colonial legislature only granted certain people the right to vote. Generally white man who owned property could vote. Most woman, indentured servants, landless, poor, and African Americans could not vote.
Life In The New England Colonies
Depending on where you live determined everything. Most of it was really hard. You had to grow your own crops, collect water or make wells, and deal with the colonial government.
