Changes to the Hybrid Schedule
We are able to make this adjustment using the most current requirements of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. Staff workstations will be separated from students at a distance of 6 feet. Students' desks will be separated by 3 feet. We are busily working to make adjustments to classroom furniture and routines for lunches and dismissal. We will do all we can to make the transition as smooth as possible. We appreciate your patience and communication, and look forward to extending this additional time to students very soon! Please reach out to me as you have questions, concerns or comments.
You can read more about this change in last night's Family Update from Dr. Olesniewicz.
Thank you!

Thank you!
For those coming to school in person
Many enjoy bringing the family pet on the walk to and from school. As you do, please be conscious of others, especially in the tight quarters near the enter/exit gates. Students must use this area to come and go, and not all feel comfortable around the pets of others. Those with pets are asked to wait just a bit farther out so students can move about with ease.
Please do not park and leave your vehicle in the temporary drop off line on Yale or Harvard. Signage makes those areas devoted to traffic flow clear. We appreciate your support.
It is so important that students bring their personal water bottle each day. Please support your child with this daily routine.
Please feel free to reach out as you have additional questions.Thank you for all your support!

End of Year: schedules and assessments
Students were asked to complete just a portion of the tests each day so they may not have finished as yet. We expect they will finish these assessments this week. If you have any questions about the iReady diagnostic or your child is finding it challenging, please reach out to Mrs. Stanger or your child's teacher. The following are resources that may help you support your child.
- A two-page family introduction with a video and checklist for supporting your child with the iReady diagnostic assessment
- Fridge Tips, a list of simple suggestions to support your child before and during the diagnostic test
In addition, teachers and our Teacher on Special Assignment, Talia Bowman, will be meeting with students over the next week or so to complete our third and final set of individual reading assessments. These short assessments are designed to assess foundational reading skills for our primary students and targeted reading skills for some of our upper graders. Teachers use the information to evaluate growth and guide instructional plans. Your teacher can share more about assessments for your child.
Election and Governance Meeting
Each spring, we vote to identify the community members who will serve as the voting members and committee chairs for Governance Council. Based on our by-laws and California Educational Code, voting membership is designed as a 50/50 balance between staff and community members. Staff will vote for their membership, and school families will vote for members in the parent community.
Voting will be done through this Google Form. Interested candidates are listed in each area. Some areas include a pair of individuals who are willing to serve as co-chairs. In addition, you may write in the name of a candidate for a position. Votes must be submitted by this Tuesday, May 11.
If you have any questions about the Governance Council or our by-laws, please contact Mrs. Stanger, email our current Facilitator, Centia Batz and join us for the Governance Council meeting this Wednesday at 6:00 PM. The principal's report will include conversation about student engagement and plans for the coming months. We'll also discuss end of year events and the work of committees.
