Our Third Week
This week, we had a great time writing, making the letter sound, and brainstorming words beginning with the letters C, D, and E. We read the story, The Little School Bus and Pete the Cat and his new shoes to help us identify ordinal numbers (first, second, third, etc) We read Wings on Things and Oh, The Thinks You Can Think by Dr. Seuss to listen and recognize rhyming words. In Math, we reviewed the numbers 6,7,8,9, and 10. We used 5 strategies to identify the numbers. We wrote, tallied, drew a picture, used a ten-frame and a number line to represent the numbers. In STEM, we discussed weather in another city compared to our weather in West Chester. We also discussed the many types of weather. We identified our favorite type of weather and was able to tell a friend "WHY" that was their favorite weather.
Next Week, we will be learning the letters F, G, and H. We are going to work on the comprehension strategy of sequencing. The sight words for next week are "little" and "the".
In Math, we will be comparing numbers between 1 and 10 using the greater than, less than and equal signs. In STEM, we will be discussing dangerous weather, such as tornadoes and hurricanes.
