Hansen Weekly Update
April 12th, 2024
April Vacation is Here!!
Originally, I was going to hold off on the Weekly Update until the 21st, but as you'll see inside, there were far too many exciting events in school this last week before break that I wanted to share, so here is a Friday-before-break edition of the S'more. I'll send it again on Sunday the 21st, so that updates are more fresh in mind as we start school back up.
As shared in prior weeks, April is Neurodiversity Acceptance month, and we want to acknowledge that not everyone's brain is the same, and it takes all minds for us to succeed together! On Friday April 12th, many students and staff wore rainbow-themed clothing, or accessories to school to celebrate Neurodiversity Acceptance day!
This week we also had the obvious excitement of the almost-full-eclipse of the sun, on Monday and Red Sox Opening Day at Fenway Park, and a visit for 3rd - 5th graders from Alex Eaves, and his 'Box Truck' home, all pictured below! Everyone worked VERY hard these past two months since February Break, so here's wishing all a restful, relaxing, FUN April Break!
Sincerely,
Paul McKnight

Alex Eaves' Box Truck Demonstrates Sustainability
Entrepreneur Alex Eaves and his business partner visited Hansen and our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders learned how he's able to live a sustainable lifestyle through recycling, reusing, and living 'low-impact' environmentally in his 'Box Truck' - a converted U-Haul vehicle.
Important Traffic Reminder
Families, please DO NOT park on either side of Pecunit Street in front of our school during drop-off or dismissal - it is not safe and creates the potential for someone getting seriously hurt. Please park instead down the street past our playground, in the baseball parking lot, or at the Galvin Middle School parking lot if you are walking to the school for drop-off or pick-up. Thank you!

The nurses at the 3 elementary schools, Hansen, Kennedy and Luce, are collaborating and developing a newsletter to provide access to information and resources to our families. We want to provide consistent and district wide information that our elementary school families will find helpful and hopefully open up additional lines of communication with you and your respective school nurse and health office. We would appreciate any feedback you can provide and are always looking for topics and areas you would like more information about. Please feel free to reach out to your school nurse as needed. Thank you!
