From the Principal's Desk: 20 Instructional Days Until STAAR
Dear Parents,
Welcome back! We hope your students had a restful and enjoyable spring break. As we resume school, our focus for the next 20 days will be on strengthening instruction and student learning in preparation for the upcoming STAAR test.
We are also excited to celebrate achievements this Wednesday such as being on honor roll, perfect attendance, Mathia gains, and reaching the Meet's Level on the benchmark.
Our 8th graders have a lot of exciting events coming up, including Super Day this Friday, where they can wear superhero shirts and enjoy pizza sales while focusing on Social Studies and Science. Also, thank you for your participation in the 8th grade Popcorn fundraiser, which will support the grade level activities planned for May. Take a look at the middle school graduation packages below.
To make the most of instructional time in this final 9-week period we are implementing a few updates to our school operations.
- Students will be allowed only 4 restroom passes per class for the rest of the school year. Please remind them to take advantage of free passes before 9am, during lunch, and to use classroom passes wisely.
- Additionally, all students are required to report directly to first period after breakfast upon arrival at school. Breakfast lines will close at 9 am unless the bus is late.
As a reminder there are several ways that we are preparing for the STAAR test in April.:
- Online STAAR Practice at https://www.texasassessment.gov
- Structured After School Tutorials will occur on Monday & Tuesday.. If you are interested in your student attending, contact Ms. Elijah, Instructional Specialist, at celijah@springisd.org.
- Super Saturday learning, once a month to close the gaps in learning and accelerate learning for students.
- Daytime pull-out tutorial based on student needs.
- Writing Wednesday. In Science, Social Studies, and English classes. Students will be writing!! The pneumonic that we use for writing is CER (Claim, Evidence, Reasoning). The more evidence a student cites, the better.
- Daily intervention during 11th period. Students will receive a short lesson and will be required to complete a 5 question assessment to be graded by their teacher.
Thank you for your attention to these reminders, and please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Together, we can ensure the success of our student.
Warm regards,

Bus Transportation with Route Tracker
Although we begin dismissing busses at 4:25PM, we have busses that arrive later due to multiple routes. You can monitor your child bus route each day to see when it arrives by clicking here. When a bus arrives, the route will appear. When it leaves, the route turns green.
