Raider Review
January/February/March 2019
From the Principal's Desk.....
Hello Everyone,
This edition of the Raider Review might look a little different. We are trying a new format for the publication. We think the changes will make it a strong communication piece for our school community.
The second semester of the 2018-19 school year will be here in just a little over a week. Report cards for the first semester will be arriving home the at the end of January. Please contact a school administrator or counselor with any questions.
Students will be receiving information about selecting classes for the upcoming school year within the next two weeks. Click this link to view the High School Course Guide. I strongly encourage parents and students to review this booklet and give a great deal of thought to the courses selected for the upcoming school year. School counselors will be meeting with all students during the registration process to make sure all graduation requirements are being fulfilled. Current teachers can also answer questions about course sequence and offer advice to students about what course might be best for them to take. Making accurate selections is critical to the staffing process. Schedule changes during the summer and at the start of the semesters are becoming more difficult to manage. Students need to make educated choices and plan to remain in selected courses. Dropping and adding classes to make the “ideal” schedule will not be accommodated. In addition, students need to be ready to complete any summer assignments that may be a part of an Advanced Placement class.
Summer school information is also included in the course guide as registration for summer high school courses takes place in February, as well. Students opting to take classes during summer school need to be aware of the strict attendance policy. Students who drop a summer school class may not be able to add that course into their schedules at the start of school. Often times, we are not able to make the changes due to class sizes and other restrictions. This will cause students to be required to take courses out of the normal sequence.
