New Non-fiction
Get your learn on
Just the Facts, Ma'am
My free time is non-existent. Between working full-time, juggling my son's schedule, preparing for trap season, and laundry, I just don't have a ton of time to read. My solution? Non-fiction.
I like to read non-fiction because to learn something new from the text, I don't have to read the entire book, but rather I can read just a chapter or two, or maybe skim a few pages to gain the main gist. The library has received some really great non-fiction titles within the last few weeks. Check out these books below that offer fascinating facts and tidbits.

Ethical Chic : The Inside Story of the Companies We Think We Love
Fran Hawthorne has written a great book examining the business ethics of hip companies like Timberlands, Toms of Maine, Apple, Starbucks, and Trader Joe's. "More than a how-to-guide for daily dilemmas and ethical business practices, Ethical Chic is a blinders-off and nuanced look at the mixed bag of values on sale at companies that projects a seemingly progressive image." --jacket

A Curious Man : The Strange & Brilliant Life of Robert "Believe It or Not" Ripley
Robert Ripley's life is the stuff of a classic fairytale. Buck-toothed and cursed by shyness, Ripley turned his sense of being an outsider into an appreciation for the strangeness of the world. After selling his first cartoon to Time magazine at the age of eighteen, more cartooning triumphs followed, but it was his "Believe It or Not" conceit and the wildly popular radio shows it spawned that would make him one of the most successful entertainment figures of his time and spur him to search the globe's farthest corners for bizarre facts, exotic human curiosities, and shocking phenomena.
