Sydenham PS
November 2021
Dear Sydenham Families,
We continue to establish and maintain strong and positive relationships among staff, students and families. Routines continue to solidify and we are welcoming back the safe return of field trips and extra curricular activities. Our Kindergartens visited the Queen's Medical Museum, many classes have visited our local park, and we have some up-coming trips to Gould Lake. We had a successful regional cross country team and we had seven runners advance from the regional to the district meet. Congratulations Storm! We have a Sydenham News team comprised of some keen students from Ms. Chung's class - stay tuned for our first news report and we are looking at other sports and clubs that we can offer. We had a really fun Costume Day on the Friday before Halloween that was topped off by a super-fun dance party outdoors!
Staff have been diligently collecting assessment information and IEPs (Individual Education Plans) have been updated and sent home. Progress reports (grade 1-8) and Intial Observations of Learning (Kindergarten) are being writtten and reviewed and will go home on November 19th. Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions regarding your child's progress in school.
Our School Advisory Council has swung into action and we thank them for organizing the recent Sydenham Spirit Wear store. The holiday wreath and planter fundraiser is underway now, with forms due to the school on November 15th. Thank you for supporting these initiatives, which in turn, support student learning.
Hoping everyone can find time to enjoy the sunlight, and the fall leaves, while they last.
Sincerely,
Ms. Marshall /Ms. Diamond
Vice-Principal/Principal

PARKING AT SYDENHAM
Safety Reminders
Please do not park in the bus loading zone. We do have a school bus that needs to be able to safely get in and out of our bus loading zone in front of the school.
We also ask you to avoid parking in front of the fire hydrant and please don't block the two large gates that are the fire access lane to the school.
Please obey the 5 minute (or less) stopping time on the school side of Clergy St. We need to keep traffic moving so that other families can pull over and drop off their students.
Please bring your vehicle to a safe and appropriate parking spot rather than stopping in the middle of Clergy St. to drop off or pick up students. Always stop and pull over on the same side of the street as the direction of traffic.
Not following these safety reminders can be very dangerous as it takes only moments for traffic to build up and cause problems. Traffic snags can pose a risk to drivers and students and families who are walking to school.
Thank you very much for keeping safety in mind at our pick up and drop off times - we truly appreciate the effort! Please reach out to the school if you have any further concerns or suggestions.
