St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3 | WEEK 2 | 30 JULY 2020
Thank you that in a world of despair,
You are our Hope.
In a world of darkness,
You are our Light.
In a world of sorrow,
You are our joy.
Message form the Principal
It's been a fun week for our Early Learners: Pre-Primary have launched into Term Three investigations with great enthusiasm and observing ‘snail art’ has been particularly fascinating, while Kindy enjoyed the worm incursion yesterday. You can enjoy the photos on our Facebook.
Please be reminded that this week's assembly has been moved to Monday. Parents are now able to attend, but social distance needs to be maintained.
The new healthy option additions to our Canteen menu have been very well received. On Wednesday we provided over 50 sushi servings to students and the huge popularity of the Slinky apple machine means a lot of fresh apples are being eaten! These are all part of our wellness program.
With the higher demand for canteen items, we are urgently seeking more parent volunteers on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please email the office if you are able to help.
For those of you in the Dad's of St Columba's footy tipping competition, we trust you are enjoying daily matches! Community initiatives such as these enrich our school.
God Bless and stay safe.

Artist of the Week
The Artist of the Week is Scarlett from Year 5. Her favourite thing about her Colour Wheel is the different shades of colours on each section. Scarlett used markers and textas to colour in her art and her favourite colours are blue and purple. Scarlett enjoys looking at modern day art at the Art Gallery.

New healthy options on canteen menu
As part of this, St Columba’s have looked into ways to create a greener canteen that offers a range of healthier options. Please see the attached menu for Term 3.
A safe, respectful and equitable place of learning
As members of St. Columba's Catholic School Community, we can all help to create a safe, respectful and equitable place of learning. A school where every child feels welcome, their voice is heard, valued and their culture and language is acknowledged with honour.
There are many areas in the Curriculum the topics of racism, social justice, human rights and Catholic social teachings can be raised. This includes our Keeping Safe Child Protection Curriculum.
Recently in Rome, Pope Francis said racism is antithetical to human life: "My friends, we cannot tolerate or turn a blind eye to racism and exclusion in any form and yet claim to defend the sacredness of every human life."
As parents and carers we can also impart this message at home in those teachable moments in conversation with our children.
If you would like more information and/or talk further about ways to support your child please contact by email hilary.campos@cewa.edu.au or request an appointment in person at the office. I am available on site at St. Columba's each Monday term time.
