Jarrell ISD Monday Memo
March 4, 2024
Hello Cougars,
It's been almost a year since we passed the 2023 Bond, and we're making terrific progress. Construction of the new middle school is underway. Technology updates and safety and security improvements are being implemented across the district.
Safety and security are important components of the bond. Ensuring a safe learning environment is crucial for the well-being of students, staff, and the entire school community. Shortly after the bond passed, the district immediately got to work forming its own police department. The Jarrell ISD Police Department opened at the start of the school year, with each campus having a police officer. The high school has additional security guards and a K-9 named Nosek. Combined, officers at the Jarrell ISD Police Department have more than 100 years of law enforcement experience. Their presence has made a significant difference on our campuses and in the community. Last month, Chief Sharif Mezayek was named Civil Servant of the Year by the Jarrell Chamber of Commerce. The district has also purchased security cameras that uses artificial intelligence to identify weapons being carried on campus and in a holster.
The 2023 school bond also funds essential infrastructure projects, such as new facilities, renovating existing buildings, addressing maintenance needs, and purchasing more school buses.
Additional projects include:
Elementary School #4
Elementary School #5
An Operations Center
More Classroom Space at JHS
Improvements to Paw Prints
Middle School #2
Construction crews are making terrific progress in building the new middle school. The 114-acre site is on the north side of E FM 487. The new school will have room for 700 students, with the space to build for up to 1,200 students. Names for the new middle school are still being considered. The school's address is 2401 E. FM 487, Jarrell, Texas 76537. It will open in August 2025.
As our enrollment approaches 4,000 students, these investments ensure students have the resources and infrastructure to receive a high-quality education, achieve academic success, and create safe and supportive learning environments.
Enjoy your Spring Break!
