Daily Admin Update
Day 38
Good Morning,
As a school there is nothing more we want to do than to lift the distance learning and fill our classrooms again. However, that is not likely any time soon. I was told by a mentor only tell people what you know, never predict, I am not very good at that. What I know, is that everything I am reading is suggesting that school will look different next year. What that means, we do not know yet as we see how things play out in the months to come. The admin and teachers will be creating several different models to consider with the hopes that we all return just after Labor Day next year in our typical configuration.
I said it before, this is a marathon. If I can help you or your family in any way get to the finish line please reach out. There is nothing I want more than for us all to get to the end together.
I miss and love you so!
Sarah
If you’re healthy and you can make a difference in your community
Newsom unveiled a new website Tuesday where Californians can sign up to lend a helping hand during the pandemic through organizations like Red Cross, United Way and the California Food Banks Association.
Other opportunities to volunteer include tutoring, fielding 211 calls, making face coverings, volunteering at shelters, calling to check in on seniors, translating and helping with tax prep.

Thoughts about how to look at stress differently
Although stress can have negative effects, research shows that even severe stress can make you stronger—if you adopt the right mindset. How do you do that?
First, acknowledge your stress. This means neither catastrophizing nor downplaying the stress as it impacts you personally. Others may be suffering worse, but that knowledge doesn’t change your situation.
Second, own your stress. Welcome what you’re feeling to help you connect it to your values: you feel stressed because it relates to something deeply important to you.
Third, use your stress. Channel your time and energy into tasks that are aligned with your values.
Don’t stress about stress. Denying it or worrying about its negative effects is counterproductive.
Do adopt a “stress-is-enhancing” mindset and help the young people in your life do the same.
To practice, everyone can use Stanford SPARQ’s toolkit, which guides you through this three-step approach in a series of videos.

On Tuesday evening, health officials announced that the first known U.S. coronavirus death happened in Santa Clara County on Feb. 6, not three weeks later in Washington state, as was previously thought. On Wednesday, Newsom asked coroners across the state to review autopsies back to December.
- Newsom: Reviewing autopsies will “ultimately help guide a deeper understanding of when this pandemic really started to impact Californians directly. … When this occurred is important forensic information, profoundly significant in terms of understanding the epidemiology of this disease.”
Two recent studies also indicated the virus was more widespread than previously thought. There have been questions about methodology, but one study found Santa Clara County had 50 to 85 times more coronavirus cases than previously recorded, and another indicated Los Angeles County had 28 to 55 times the recorded cases.
