Current House Bill to Defund CTE Programs
Regionally, this would have a severe negative impact for Michiana. The EACC currently works with a number of business partners (35 local partners) in these fields and these relationships are mutually beneficial for all included. All programs being targeted offer dual credits and industry-recognized certification that help students begin stacking credentials while still in high school. Our Culinary Arts program has strong partnerships with both Beacon Health Systems and Goshen Health providing highly trained students with industry-recognized credentials to support their dietary needs across multiple facilities. Additionally, our Culinary Arts program was recently recognized by the Office of Work-Based Learning and Apprenticeships as a SEAL (State Earn and Learn) program as a best practice in the state.
