Harmon Volunteer & Family Night at Rule (3)
Join Us Wednesday, November 29 at Rule3 from 5-7 pm
Harmon will also receive a 15% kickback on all the food and bowling this evening. Parents and their students can come and learn about all of the fabulous volunteer opportunities here at Harmon.
Here are a few of our volunteer opportunities: Watchdog Dads, LDRS Technology Partners, and General Volunteering.
WatchDOGS are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures who volunteer at least one day a year at an official WatchDOGS school. The goal of this program is to provide positive male role models who attempt to enhance school security and reduce the instances of bullying while engaging students. It is an innovative educational initiative through the National Center for Fathering. We are proud to be a WatchDOGS school and thankful for all of our WatchDOGS. Are you interested in volunteering and becoming a part or our WatchDOG team? Come out to our first annual Harmon Middle School Volunteer Night and sign up there.
New this year, Harmon presents the LDRS (Learning Discipline & Restoring Success) parent committee. This team will meet as needed to brainstorm ways to help our students grow through restorative and reflective discipline practices as well as community service and outreach activities. We are looking for parents who would like to help us in this mission to help our students grow.
We are also looking for parent volunteers to commit their time in our technology classes during the second semester. Our new technology curriculum includes instruction and hands-on activities in coding where students get to manipulate robots and drones through a series of tasks. We need parents to support and assist students so they can move at their own pace.
If you are interested please fill out the volunteer form.

Help Keep A Child Warm This Winter
Each year Harmon collects blankets made out of fleece material to give to the Fairfield County Children's Services. This is a great family and classroom project. If you are interested in providing warmth to a child who finds themselves with Fairfield County Children's Services - this "Tie a Know for Warmth" blanket is a great way to help.
Directions for making these blankets: Purchase 4 yards of fleece material (2 separate pieces of 2 yards each) for a child's size blanket. The yardage does not have to be exact! For an infant blanket, decrease the yardage to 3 yards (1 1/2 yards each). Place the material on top of each other and cut a square at each corner (approximately 4 1/2" x 4"). It is important to cut the square at each corner before cutting the strips. This prevents the blanket from bulking and looking like a circle when it is finished. From there, cut the strips 5" apart, and 3" deep. Again, this does not have to be an exact size, and do not worry about measuring each strip. Simply cut and then tie each strip together in a double knot.
We have a blanket box in the front office for all blanket donations. Thank you for help!
