Questions
---Well first of all, Stephen A. Douglas (also running for president) supported slavery, automatically you can already tell that we would have had slavery in 1860. And that the Union would not have been very pleased. If Lincoln didn't win then we would still have had slavery. Say if Douglas won the election and that we still had slaves during his time of being president, when it finally came the time to vote for a new president, I think that there would have been a kind hearten person who would run for president and not support slavery. If not then I think Abraham Lincoln would've either ran for president or have done something to get rid of slavery.
How do you think the slaves felt once they were released?
--- At first I think they would have been extremely thankful for freedom and be happy but once they were truly on their own they had no idea what to do. They were so used to being told what to do, what to eat, when to go to bed, when to wake up, and when to do everything really that once they were free they were scared. Where would they sleep, how would they get food, would they survive on their own, what were they going to do the rest of their lives, they were clueless.
