Braemar Traffic
We continue to emphasize the importance of road safety at the school to ensure that our students and families are safe. If you drive your children to school, please park on Evergreen Place and walk to the school. At Braemar, vehicles are not permitted to enter the cul de sac between 8:30am-9:30 am and 2:30-3:30 pm. Daycare providers with visible signage may drop off in the cul de sac.
The staff parking lot is available only to staff between 8:00am and 4:00pm. There are no drop offs and pick-ups of students in the staff parking lot. As a result of this arrangement, traffic is kept at a minimum when children are in attendance.
Please be respectful of the neighbours and their property (e.g. by limiting the amount of noise in the area, not blocking their driveways, and not double parking on the street).
Please be mindful of the North Vancouver District street signage; specifically areas that have limited or restricted parking.
Other things to note:
Please do not stop at the three way intersection of Mahon and Evergreen Place to drop your child off.
Please do not have your child exit from the driver's side into oncoming traffic
Please do not park alongside curbs where parking is not permitted.
Please do not reverse your vehicle, stop or block drive ways. We continue to receive complaints from neighbours specifically living on streets surrounding the school.
Please be a responsible driver, and kindly assist in keeping all children at Braemar safe! Thank you for your cooperation.
Moving?
As we approach the end of the school year, we kindly request your assistance in facilitating a smooth transition process for your child. If your family is planning to withdraw, transfer, or relocate from Braemar, please notify us at your earliest convenience.
Your cooperation in providing advance notice allows us to effectively plan and allocate resources, ensuring that your child's educational journey concludes seamlessly. Additionally, it enables us to assist you in any way possible during this transition period.
Kindly reach out via email (Braemar@sd44.ca) to communicate your intentions regarding withdrawal, transfer, or relocation. We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter.
Student Absence Reporting / Safe Arrival Reminder:
Ensuring students arrive safely at school each day is one of our top priorities.
Please notify your child’s teacher of any absence (late, appointment, illness, vacation) AND enter into Safe Arrival (instructions below). We have had some instances that parents have told the classroom teachers but not entered the absence into Safe Arrival. As a result we send a Safe Arrival notification (via email, SMS, phone call) to parents saying their child is not at school. This can be extremely alarming for parents. As the office coordinates the attendance, it is imperative that we are aware of any absence, late arrival or early departure via Safe Arrival.
Emailing your child’s teacher of any early departures, absences helps them to schedule their day and help the student to be ready to leave when you come to pick them up. Thank you for your help with this.
With Safe Arrival, you are able to report your child’s absence in advance using any of these three options, which are available to you 24 hours/day, 7 days a week:

Please ...No Dogs on School Property
Please keep in mind the District of North Vancouver by-law prohibiting dogs from certain public spaces such as school grounds – (please refer to NVD By-law 5981restricting dogs from school grounds).
While our four-legged friends are usually just that - friends – some children at school are frightened of them. Even when leashed or tethered to a fence, dogs can be unpredictable especially when the owner is not present. In other cases, and despite many owners best efforts, they can and do leave ‘calling cards’ on the playgrounds – not pleasant for anyone who may step or slide into them unintentionally!
Class Building for the 2024-2025 School Year
Student placement in classes is carefully considered by our professional team: the child’s current teachers, specialist teachers (such as English Language Learning, Learning Support and Speech Therapists), counsellors, and administrators. Our team will consider parental input in regards to your child’s specific learning needs.
If you choose to, please print out and complete the attached Placement Form to provide your input then return the form to the school office, attention Mr. Kelly, no later than May 15th, 2024. Please do not include an accompanying letter given the number students we enroll.
Student Placement:
Once an organization has been decided upon, the process of assigning students to classes begins. Key considerations in each child’s placement follow:
1. Workable instructional groups – consideration of students’ aptitudes, learning styles and work habits
2. Positive social groups – peer relationships, student social skills
3. Balanced classes – academic and social-emotional needs
4. Learning environment – visual supports, physical arrangement, acoustics, etc.
If you would like to express your concerns regarding your child’s placement, please consider the criteria referenced above when describing your child’s needs.
Please note that it may not be possible to meet all requests; submission of a request form does not necessarily mean that we can satisfy your requests. Teacher assignments are tentative and subject to change, along with enrolment and school organization changes. Please also note that referring to specific teachers is not part of the criteria, and requesting specific teachers will result in your requests not being considered. Our goal is to meet the needs of all students at Braemar in order to maximize their growth as learners. We appreciate your support in the process of building educationally sound and balanced classes.
