MESSAGE FROM MRS. FURMAN
Tomorrow is another Fitness Friday. All students and staff can wear comfy/athletic clothes to school. Students will have a physical movement break in class! Let's get moving!
Please remember the bus lane in front of the school is only for busses. Do not drive up in the bus lane for late drop off of students. In addition, student arrival is between 8:50 and 9:00AM. If you and your child arrive after 9:00 please park and walk your child to the door and sign them in.
Have a Happy Halloween if you celebrate and a great day!
Sincerely,
Stephanie Furman

We were able to collect over 900 pairs of socks this year. St. Vincent Shelter will be very appreciative of all the sock donations. Thank you for making this collection such a success!
Veterans Day
Mrs. Koller has been working hard to put up our Wall of Honor. There is still time to email a photo of your veteran to be shared on this wall! Photos can be emailed to Kristyn Mastropietro at kmastropietro@region15.org. Be sure to include the name of your veteran, the branch they served in, and the years they served.
Storybook Pumpkin Contest
This year we had 40 amazing participants. All students and staff had a hard time deciding on a favorite. Thanks to all the families who took time to bring in a pumpkin and to those who took pictures of their creations from home. I have included a short video of all the pumpkins for your viewing pleasure!

This year's winner of the 2021 PES Storybook Pumpkin Contest is #18, The Bad Seed created by Audrey Russ in 1st grade.
Congratulations to Audrey and all the participants!
Please make sure that pumpkins are picked up on Friday morning. They will be out in front of the school by 8:30. If there are any left at dismissal time, they will be sent home with the student they belong to.
Book Fair
Dear Parents and Families:
We’re excited to share that we are getting ready for our Scholastic Book Fair. Hosted by our PTO, this event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school.
After missing out on many beloved traditions, our fall Book Fair will be a familiar, welcome, and safe event for our students. Students will visit the Book Fair with their class from Wednesday Nov. 3 through Friday Nov. 5 in our Media Center during school hours. We are also hosting a family night, where the whole family can come and shop on Wednesday Nov. 3 from 5:30-7:00 in the school Media Center.
We’re excited to celebrate our love of books together at the Book Fair. We look forward to seeing your child there!
Happy reading!

!Fourth and Fifth Grade Coders
We would like to take this opportunity to invite you students to participate in Random Hacks of Kindness Junior’s upcoming VIRTUAL hackathon scheduled for Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 9-12 EST. The three hour coding program will focus on designing and coding apps addressing the health of the world’s oceans and its impact on human life. Three-quarters of our planet is covered with water—and it’s this water that sustains life. It provides for half of the oxygen in our atmosphere. This means that every second breath we take comes from the Ocean. But our liquid planet, home to half of the world’s known creatures and plants, is facing multiple threats.
Join with Random Hacks of Kindness Junior and Devon Savard from The Maritime Aquarium of Norwalk to design and create apps addressing the ways to help save the oceans and the life it sustains. Experience first hand how you can use technology to create positive change.
Using Zoom, students will work in pairs with mentors to create prototype smartphone apps (using the online app block programming language, APP LAB from Code.org).
Pre-registration is required. The registration fee for the event is $18. Participants may register by going to RHoKJr’s website at https://rhokjr.org/event/hacking-for-life-below-water/
