HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 2 Week 1 - 4 May
FROM MARK:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to term two! It was a real pleasure to witness children bounding in to school, ready to embrace the term. They look great in their winter uniforms! As a nine week term it will go quickly. When you check your calendar you will note that there are many opportunities to engage with events and special occasions in the life of our community and we welcome your presence. Certainly this week has been a big one!
Welcome Ashlee and Pieter Kruger, and Brody and Isla Tankard. We are so pleased that you and your parents have joined the Holy Rosary Community and trust that your experience will be terrific!
Welcome back Pat Winton and Rom Strack! Pat returns well-recovered from his surgery, and Rom replaces Trish Norman who is on long service leave for the term.
Quite a lot of work has again been undertaken during the break, with new TV screens now in Years One and Two replacing the old screens. A TV screen has also been put in to the library as part of the change to operation of the far corner of the library – which already is looking great! Online ordering for canteen has been set up and will no doubt increase in popularity over time. Certainly there has been a lot of interest in getting this facility. It makes for less need to have cash ready which suits a lot of people.
A Parent Talk on the Sacrament of Confirmation took place on Wednesday night, with the student retreat following on the Thursday. To Kaye, Father Peter, Lachie Darby and Kate O'Neill thank you for all you did to make this happen.
Thank you for having your children looking fabulous for the school photos this week. They went well despite the weather!! Organising these photos was a major undertaking. Thank you to Geordie Thuijs for making the process such a smooth one.
Thank you to everyone able to join us for our ANZAC ceremony today. We were pleased to see you! Brother Stephen made all the arrangements and we thank him for being so well prepared - it was beautiful.
A reminder about our Mothers’ Day breakfast next Friday followed by mass. Click on the link to come along. It is different this year, and will be awesome!
Finally, Four Year Old Kindy interviews – for both 2019 and 2020 – are already under way. Term two is generally one where people become more active in seeking places in our school. If you know of anyone interested in taking a look around please encourage them to get in touch either via our new website, or to call or swing by.
Have a great weekend.

CECWA Strategic Directions
Dear Parents and Caregivers
The Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia (CECWA) has a strategic purpose to ensure that Catholic education is delivered and managed through the system of Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) in a responsible and effective manner, working within the Catholic Mission, appropriate standards and regulations.
The CECWA has commenced the process of developing the strategic direction for Catholic education in Western Australia from 2019 to 2021. This fundamental work will enable the CECWA to consolidate and communicate our key objectives for coming years.
The first phase of this consultation involves gathering feedback from our Catholic education community that will inform the draft Strategic Directions 2019 - 2021.
We would like to invite you to complete a survey to provide your valued input. Visit
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/cecwa-strategic-directions to complete the survey, open for participation until Friday, 11 May.
The CECWA is eager to listen to our community through this important process and I thank you in anticipation for your participation in helping to shape the future direction of Catholic education throughout Western Australia.

“The most memorable books from our childhoods are those that make us feel less alone, convince us that our own foibles and quirks are both as individual as a finger-print and as universal as an open hand.”
