What The Internet Knows About You
To do a background check on someone 20 years ago, you would have had to go to the county clerks office, request permission in person, get a file, make copies, and then you're finally done. It was a lot of work, so not many people did it. Today, though, you can do it right at home. Just pop open your laptop, pay five bucks, and you can see what anyone has been doing online.

You could just type "depression" in the search bar, and you would get sent hundreds of ads for antidepressants. You could have just been on a website 2 minutes ago, and then you see an ad for something you were looking at on that same website. Tracking cookies have been installed.
