REMINDERS π
Coats: Please send your child with a coat to school during the winter months. We will try our best to go outside as much as the weather (temperature) allows! Also, please write your child's name in coats so that we can reunite lost items easier.
Green Take-Home Folders:
Please check and empty folders each night!
Headphones: Please ask your child if they have working headphones at school. Many students have broken or lost pieces! We have a limited amount that students can use.
Phonics Words: Each week students have 5 (+1 bonus word) to learn how to read, write, and spell. These words have a "hunk and chunk" in them. Students practice these words daily at school, but If you notice your child is not spelling these words correctly on their weekly phonics checks, please provide them extra practice time at home!
What We're Learning:
Second grade doesn't assign required homework.
Each week, your child will bring home a paper that is called "What We're Learning." This paper is a resource for you to know what we are working on in reading and how you can help at home! This is not mandatory, but we do encourage you to look over the words with your child and have them read 15-20 minutes nightly.
Breakfast at School:
If your child needs to eat breakfast at school, please arrive by 7:30 a.m. Instruction begins at 7:45 a.m. and we want to make sure they have time to eat before our day begins! Students need to drop off their backpack first, then go to the cafeteria to eat.
Transportation Changes:
Any transportation changes must be in writing and turned into the front office. Ms. Mullins is in charge of transportation. All changes must be made before 1:00 pm.
Water Bottles:
Students are allowed to bring a water bottle to school for personal use. Please make sure it is labeled with their name!
Birthdays:
Birthday treats are allowed to be sent to school. Please make sure they are store-bought, do not contain nuts, and there is enough for all students in the class. Most treats will be passed out during the student's lunch time. If you have specific questions, please contact your child's teacher!
