Hello Foster Families
Hello Foster's Finest Families,
I have a small request of families who are parking and picking up their students. Our traffic pattern as developed with the Hingham Police Department, is to use Planters Field for cars coming into the loop. If you are not coming into the loop and are choosing to park, please do not park on Planters Field. We are having challenges with traffic because vehicles are pulling out and into the line of cars that are staging to come into our pick-up loop. Thank you so much for your help! Hopefully we will be in better shape with warmer weather and students and families can resume walking to school.
You may not be aware, but the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has a yearly school report card on every school in the State. Part of that evaluation system is our school attendance rate. There is a substantial body of evidence that shows that student attendance directly correlates to future academic performance. We are seeing an uptick in students who would be considered chronically absent, meaning they have missed more than 10% of the school year. We understand that students get sick, which is unexpected, and they should be kept home when they have a fever or are sick to their stomach. The absences begin to add up when students are also taking extended vacation time on top of absences due to illnesses.
Wishing you all a fantastic weekend!
Mr. Scheufele
Report Cards via Aspen Family Portal
A reminder that we will be utilizing the Aspen Family Portal for the upcoming release of report cards (1/26). This means we will not be printing report cards for students. Instead, families will log on to the Aspen portal and will be able to download their student's report card from there.
Families will need to have an active Aspen Family Portal account (see here: https://hinghamschools.org/students-and-families/aspen-parent-portal/). Please email aspenhelp@hinghamschools.org if you need assistance.
