Jack Carter Park Information
Here is some important information about Jack Carter Park.
The contractor must temporarily close the bridge between the central portion of the park and Carlisle Elementary School to make the trail connection to the bridge. The bridge closure will be for two weeks, from February 22nd through March 8th. The bridge will open on March 9th, and bridge and schools access will re-open. I enclose a map of the temporary trail closures for your reference.
You may follow the project progress here: https://www.plano.gov/1545/Plano-Park-Projects-Plans. The Jack Carter Park Master Plan is posted for your reference here: https://content.civicplus.com/api/assets/6b3fe6bf-7e77-4be3-8c61-ea1e290fe6b4?cache=1800.

Late Pick Ups
Parents, please remember that school dismisses promptly at 2:55pm. You are expected to pick up your child upon dismissal or have other arrangements for how they go home (bus, daycare, PASAR, etc.).
Please help us by picking up your child on time. It puts teachers and staff in a very difficult position when your child is picked up late.
Plano ISD Tip Line
As a reminder, Plano ISD maintains a tip line that allows parents, students and community members to report concerns affecting our campuses. Reports may include threats, bullying, drug use, suspected abuse/neglect or any other concerns that may affect the physical safety or health of our students.
We publish the direct link to this Tip Line at the bottom of every Carlisle Connection.
Fentanyl Awareness
Fentanyl use among teens is on the rise. Unfortunately, so is the risk of overdose. One of the best ways to protect kids from substance abuse is by having regular and open conversations to educate them about the risks.

District Health Reminder
In Plano ISD, maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff is a top priority and a coordinated effort. The district works with Collin County Health Services, as well as our students, staff, parents and healthcare professionals to manage communicable illnesses, including flu. We all play an important role in managing health and safety protocols responsibly.
Schools and the district help by:
- Teaching and encouraging proper handwashing techniques.
- Teaching effective cough and sneeze techniques such as coughing into your sleeve.
- Posting signs around the campus as visual reminders.
- Offering optional, free flu vaccinations to staff.
- Encouraging all staff and students to remain home when ill.
- Providing updated information on our Communicable Diseases web page.
Parents help by:
- Having their families vaccinated yearly against flu.
- Encouraging that proper handwashing, sneeze and cough techniques are used at home.
- Consulting their healthcare providers when flu-like symptoms begin. Symptoms include: fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, fatigue, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea.
- Keeping children home when ill.
Students help by:
- Washing their hands for 20 seconds with soap and water before and after eating, after sneezing or coughing into their hands, after using the restroom, after playing outdoors and any other times that their hands are dirty.
- Using tissues when sneezing and coughing into their sleeves.
- Not sharing food and drink.
- Encouraging others to do the same.
Collin County Health Services can help by:
Helping to plan and making suggestions for managing increased incidences in a particular area.
Intent to Return Form
Please note that the Intent to Return Form will be utilized again this spring to gather information from families regarding their plans for the upcoming school year. The form will go live on March 4. The district will lead the first five communication efforts with families using a variety of methods: email, text message, app alerts, etc. to notify them of the Intent to Return form. Please complete this form when it comes to you!
