FAMILY CONFERENCES & SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR
This is a reminder that Family Conferences will take place at all schools on Thursday, March 7 from 12:00 PM -7:00 PM and Friday, March 8 from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
By selecting Propel Schools as your partner in education, we understand that you value involvement in your scholar’s education. Family Conference Days prioritize our partnership and provide an opportunity to review your scholar’s overall academic health. Two-way conversations will outline how our partnership can advance academic growth through supportive learning environments at school and at home.
Please note the following important information:
Family conferences are by appointment only. Please reach out to your scholar’s educator or principal to schedule a conference appointment.
Conferences are held from 12:00-7:00 on Thursday, March 7 and 8:00-4:00 on Friday, March 8
There will be no school for scholars on Thursday, March 7 or Friday, March 8.
Scholars will return to school on Monday, March 11
We will have all LOST and FOUND items in the multipurpose room near the Book Fair so please stop by and claim anything that your scholar may have left behind. All unclaimed items will be donated due to not having enough room to house all items lost throughout the school year.
PMES Lockdown Drill 3/6/24
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The safety and security of our students and staff is top priority at Propel Charter Schools. As a result, we have implemented a number of measures as part of our Emergency and Critical Incident Plan to ensure our schools remain a safe place.
Part of this plan includes Lockdown Drills. During a lockdown drill, classroom doors are secured and students remain in their rooms until they are instructed by a teacher or school administrator to resume activities as normal. All exterior doors are locked, and no one is permitted to enter or leave the building during this time.
The purpose of this drill is to keep the students safe from any danger inside or outside of the building, and circumstances make it safer to stay in the classroom rather than evacuate.
Today, Wednesday, March 6, we completed a lockdown drill at Propel Montour Elementary. During the drill, scholars and staff locked classroom doors, moved to safe spaces within the classrooms, and turned out the lights. Our scholars did very well.
Please remember that we practice these safety drills to ensure our schools are a safe place to learn and work. If you have any questions regarding the lockdown drill or any other safety concerns, please contact the main office.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping our scholars safe!
PMES SPRING FEST - MARCH 21
Our SPRING FEST event will be held on March 21 from 5:00 PM -7:00 PM. Due to our limited space, we ask famillies of K-2 scholars to attend between 5:00 - 6:00 and families of 3-5 scholars attend between 6:00 - 7:00. Please see the flyer below! Hope to see you here!
RECESS UPDATE
Please ensure your scholar has their jacket with them if needed for outdoor recess as the weather continues to improve. We are happy to get the scholars outdoors but want everyone to remain safe and healthy!
DISMISSAL PROCESS
All scholars who are "Pick Ups" will begin to be dismissed at 3:15 PM from the front of the building each day. Families can "Announce" in the PikMyKid app when they arrive beginning at 2:50 PM. Please know that staff is actively working to get your scholars out to you as safely and efficiently as possible. If you are experiencing issues with the PikMyKid app, support is available for the PikMyKid platform via email at success@pikmykid.com. Thank you for your LEGENDARY support and patience throughout this process!
INCLEMENT WEATHER PROTOCOLS
As winter is upon us, we share the following general information about weather-related changes to school schedules:
There are ONLY TWO official sources of school closing and/or delay information:
1. Connect 5 robocall/automated email communication.
The email will display as “noreply@finalsiteconnect.com"
The telephone number displayed by the robocall will be your Propel School’s telephone number or the Administrative Office’s telephone number
2. Local news stations' live broadcasts or website
Please note:
DELAYS: PMES will not have two-hour delays unless all 6 sending districts for our school also call a delay.
CLOSURES: PMES may cancel school if Pittsburgh Public School closes due to weather conditions.
When PMES closes due to weather conditions, all families will be notified with the Connect 5 system. The closure will also be posted on WTAE, WPXI, and KDKA news outlets.
Scholars who take a school bus should follow the transporting district’s transportation schedule. There are minimal situations, however, in which a transporting district closes its schools, but will still send buses for our scholars. Parents should keep phone numbers for bus garages nearby for those instances.
If PMES is closed due to inclement weather, the Afterschool Program will also close for that day.
For the 2023-2024 school year, Propel Schools is not participating in Flexible Instruction Days (FIDs.) Scholars will not take devices or FID folders home and will not log into Google Classroom for assignments to complete. If school is closed due to inclement weather, scholars will not work remotely.
LOST & FOUND
All lost and found items will now be located in the lobby of the building so scholars have an organized way to find any items they may be missing!
