Welcome To Week 27!
Dear Brahma Family,
The cold, wet days with limited sunlight that occupy the time between winter and spring breaks can often be challenging for students and staff alike. Whether it's the pressures of college admissions season, adjusting to second-semester routines, or simply dealing with the everyday stresses of life, we must be mindful of the challenges that this time of year can bring. Furthermore, this year, some members of our school community have faced some uncommon challenges. We recognize that many may be experiencing difficulties.
At Diamond Bar High School, we are committed to fostering a supportive environment for the well-being of students, parents, and staff. We understand that mental health is a crucial aspect of overall wellness, and we are dedicated to providing the necessary support to ensure everyone can thrive. You are not alone, and there are resources and services available to help you and your loved ones navigate these challenges.
If you or someone you know is struggling, please don't hesitate to reach out. We have a range of support services available:
A student’s Grade Level Coordinator (GLC) is the best place for students or parents who are seeking help to start. Grade Level Coordinators are credentialed school counselors and act as parents on campus. Each GLC holds a Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential, which authorizes them to provide school counseling services that includes the academic, career, personal and social development of all students; as well as school-wide prevention and intervention strategies. Each GLC can provide guidance to any student looking for someone to talk to. Additionally, visit the “Grade Level Coordinators” page under “Guidance” on our schools webpage, here, for up-to-date information on critical issues faced in schools today. Scroll through the page for information about some issues of concern.
The Diamond Bar High School Wellness Center is available to students during periods 2 – 4 and at lunch time. The Wellness Staff is committed to creating a supportive environment for students by providing wellness education and resources. Our peer counselors are equipped to assist students by guiding them to develop healthy strategies for personal well-being, which will promote individual academic success and improve the overall school climate. They are there to listen, provide assistance, and connect students with any additional resources they may need.
For more comprehensive assistance, Diamond Bar High School has three School Psychologists who are available to provide support beyond what the GLCs or peer counselors can provide.
There is also a district-wide resource provided by Walnut Valley Unified School District. The district has made an agreement with Care Solace. Care Solace is an online resource with a live 24/7 concierge meant to assist individuals in finding local mental health related programs and counseling services. Care Solace is a tool for anyone associated with students, parents, or staff in our district to connect with community-based mental healthcare resources and providers. Their system taps into a database of resources to find carefully vetted local therapists and programs. Care Solace considers all types of private insurance including Medi-Cal, Medicaid, and Medicare and those that have no insurance to create a list of referrals to applicable care providers. If you are interested in seeking counseling-related services outside of the school setting, please consider visiting www.caresolace.com/wvusdfamilies or call (888) 515-0595. A letter with more information printed in three languages is available here.
Let's support each other and continue to cultivate a resilient and caring community that prioritizes mental health and wellness. Remember, seeking help is a sign of strength, and reaching out to others can make a significant difference.
Wishing you strength, comfort, and well-being.
Sincerely,
David Hong
