Introduction
My topic is the Hagia sophia and the history and beauty and wars behind the beautiful cathedral, then mosque and now museum.
Function
The Hagia Sophia was established on the 1st of February in 1931. It was first used as a Greek Orthodox Basilica cathedral, later an imperial mosque and now it is used as a museum in Istanbul, Turkey.
Who built it and why?
The emperor Justinian I built the Hagia Sophia because he said he had wanted to build something as beautiful and splendor as Rome once was. After he built it is was covered with fine artwork and delicate sculptures.

Hagia Sophia is was located in Constantinople. Constantinople is now Istanbul, Turkey. The location of the Hagia Sophia is Sultanahmet Istanbul, Turkey.
How was it built and how much did it cost?
The Hagia Sophia is decorated with marble floors, paintings, delicate sculptures, chandeliers, stained glass windows, rhinestone or bejeweled ceilings and so much more beautiful decorations. The cost is unknown for building the HAgia Sophia but some architects say that the cost may have been around 2 billion dollars.
What is the history behind the Hagia Sophia?
Hagia Sophia means "Holy Wisdom," it was built in the 6th century A.D. It has been standing for 1,400 years when the Nika riots started. Nika means victory and the the Nika were trying to overthrow the emperor Justinian I. They threw out Justinian I because of the high taxes in the 6th century
