Move Up Day
Here is the schedule for the Move Up Day on Tuesday, May 21st at 10:20-10:55.
- Kindergarten kids walk to the cafeteria to meet with 1st grade teachers. Kindergarten aides walk the kids down while the 4 teachers go outside and wait for 5th grade…gym is back up if raining. Aides stay with kindergarten students. Kindergarten kids should bring their lunch since they will begin lunch when we are done.
- 1st grade kids walk to the flex room to meet with 2nd grade teachers. Casi walks the 1st graders to the flex room.
- 2nd grade kids walk to the 3rd grade pod. Greve and Gallo walk the 2nd graders to the 3rd grade pod and then Greve goes out with the kindergarten teachers.
- 3rd grade kids walk to the library to meet with 4th grade teachers. A 3rd grade teacher walks the kids to the library. Specialists pick up the 3rd graders and take to specials at 10:55.
- 4th grade kids walk to the 5th grade pod. Specialists walk the 4th graders to the 5th grade pod.
- 5th grade kids go out to the playground area. One/two 5th grade teachers walks the kids out to the recess area. Please use the exit doors in your pod and walk them around to the main playground so it is one less grade level in the hallways. All Kindergarten teachers supervise the 5th graders.
If you need more than one teacher walking them to the location, use your professional judgment. Thank you for planning your talk with the kiddos, introducing yourselves, and getting them excited about the next school year!
There will be an announcement to begin and end the move up day.
Yearbook Signings Expectations!
PLEASE go over your expectations on how to sign other people's yearbooks before Tuesday at 2:45. Every year, I get at least one phone call from a parent that is angry because someone either wrote something inappropriate or wrote something really big on their child's yearbook. Thank you!
Half Day Recess Schedule for Thursday
9:30 -9:45 K
9:45-10:00 1st
10:00 – 10:15 2nd
10:15 – 10:30 3rd
10:30 – 10:45 4th
11:00 – 11:15 5th
Clap Out -Thursday
At 11:35, we are going to make an announcement for everyone to come out to the hallways to celebrate our fifth graders. We will have the students in K through 4th grade line both sides of the hallway. The students will clap for the fifth graders as they go past.
Please use the attached map as a rough guide (disregard the names and year...it will be the same as last year), but adapt and use your judgment on how to get all the students out there. Once all of the fifth graders go past you, you can have your students go back into the classroom to wait for the normal dismissal over the intercom starting at 11:54.
5th grade teachers – You will begin at 11:45 when you hear music on the intercom.
Your students should have everything with them, as they will not go back to the classroom. You will end up in the gym with your students and any parents that want to come up. You may dismiss any walkers/bike riders/students that have parents there at this time. All bus and car riders will go to their normal location.
Changes in Dismissal - Checking Purple and Blue Notes
Leadership/Committees Signup
Please find the 2019-2020 committee/leadership signup in your mailboxes. Please look at the top part and select your top 2 that you would be comfortable with serving on next year. If you see your name already, just highlight it to show that you are still interested. Some of the roles are more of a year to year job, some are longer (so that is why you might see/not see your name).
A couple of the bigger leadership roles are available though - STUCO and Math Wings. Please consider them!!
The bottom portion of the form will be the committees for next year. Please rank these from 1-5 with 1 being your favorite.
Please return these to me by Wednesday, May 22nd! You can place this on my desk or in my mailbox.
I will send out the final list in August.
Thank you!
Awards Assembly for 3rd - 5th
If you are a speaker for the awards ceremony and you have a class that is not 3rd-5th grade, please feel free to bring this class to the gym to watch as well.
This year, we will have an awards assembly, but it will be for 3rd - 5th grade. This will occur on May 21st at 1:50. Since most of the awards were geared towards the older students, we felt that the time could be used better spent in the classroom for K-2. Feel free to have a grade level awards assembly if you would like.
Summer Time Cleaning
As the school year comes to a close, please remember a few important items:
Summer is a time that we are able to get some deep cleaning done in the classrooms. Please make sure that you have stored and put away any loose items on your desk/counters/bookshelves.
If you are staying in your classroom, it is up to you if you keep some things on your walls…but if anything gets ripped/ruined during the cleaning, it is your responsibility.
Grade Card Envelopes
Please put the following in the grade card envelopes:
- Grade Cards
- MAP Reports and Letter
- KAP Reports and Letter
- Panorama Report and Letter
- Supply Lists

Junk Mail
Reminder
I have noticed that I am getting more and more emails from parents that are going to my junk mail. Please make it a habit of checking this on a weekly basis so we don't miss anything.
Yellow Folders, Synergy, and Top 10
Now that we are starting to finish up interventions, please note the following deadlines:
- Synergy – Please make sure that all true interventions are on Synergy. This includes behavior and academic. This is due by May 9th.
- Top 10 Transition Forms – These are located in the PLC Toolbox and should be filled out by each grade level. This is due by May 17th.
- Yellow Folders – All true interventions should have a yellow folder. Please place all assessments/scores/data that you have for each child in this yellow folder and give to Sean. We will review this at our transition meetings at the BOY. This is due by May 24th.
F&P Assessments
- The testing window is:
KDG = April 15-May 15 and Grades 1-5 = April 10-May 17
Interventions on Synergy
Reminder!
Please make sure that you are putting this on synergy when you begin and then update this when you complete it. This should be done for any behavior or academic interventions.
Afternoon Dismissal Duty if you are Absent
Reminder!
If you have a dismissal duty:
- If you are absent (and it is something that you have planned or know in advance), please try and contact a floater or someone on your grade level to see if they can cover your duty. I am not comfortable with substitutes doing these duties because they do not know the kids, our routines, and our procedures. I understand that there are certain substitutes that are our regulars. If these people are your substitute, please feel free to use them for these roles. Thank you!
