Help Send Our Montessorians to Nashville
Thank you to all the families who have already donated to send ten of our teachers to the American Montessori Society convention in March! The GoFundMe link, which was started by an Ellis parent, is still active until next week if you'd like to donate.
**Update 2/25/22**: Pick a teacher to PIE in the Face!
Pi Day is March 14th and we are continuing to raise funds for the AMS conference. Students get to vote for which teacher they want to see PIED in the FACE!
How can they vote? Donation jars with a picture of participating teachers will be placed in the front foyer each day. Drop in a dollar or two to cast your vote. The teacher who raises the most money will get PIED in the FACE on Pi Day!
About this fundraiser:
Ten of our teachers from Charles Ellis will be attending the American Montessori Society conference in Nashville, Tennessee, March 17 - 20.
The Montessori Event is an opportunity to join other Montessori educators from around the world to collaborate, network, and attend transformative workshops to impact our Montessori practices here at Charles Ellis.
Workshops include topics such diversity, equity, innovation, inclusion, leadership, and public Montessori initiatives. Keynote speakers include innovators in the field of education and activist Ashley Judd.
Here is the link to The Montessori Event March 17-20.
Attendance to the event is quite costly. Each teacher will be spending roughly $1000 out-of-pocket for registration, lodging, food, and gas.iReady/MAP Assessments
If your student does not leave their device at school, PLEASE make sure that they bring their device to school every day, fully charged!
Students in kindergarten through 1st grade and those with testing accommodations should also have their own set of earbuds/headphones.

Counselors' Corner
Classes have been learning about assertiveness and advocacy. Primary will be reading A Big Guy Took My Ball and will learn about using I-messages. Lower Elementary read the book Yertle the Turtle and practiced using I-messages.
We are here for all students, and love serving our community. Resources are available on the School Counseling Website including a list of mental health professionals and relaxation activities. Please reach out if you need anything.

School-Wide Grace & Courtesy Focus
The language for identifying/naming PEACE in "The Self-Awakened Child" series by Jonathan Wolff:
- When I feel calm and quiet inside, when I do not let anyone or anything take away my calmness and quiet, I am feeling and being Peaceful.
- When I try to understand another person's feelings and thoughts, when I talk with him about our problems instead of hurting him or hitting him, I am being Peaceful.
- When I feel angry or scared and I help myself feel calm and quiet inside instead of hurting someone or telling someone to go away, I am practicing Peacefulness.
