LAST DAY OF SCHOOL - May 21, 2024 11:30 Dismissal
Letter from the Principal
We want to wish our 8th Grade Volleyball Lady Tigers GOOD LUCK as they travel to Herrin tomorrow for State. We are super proud of their hard work, dedication, and perseverance this season. LET'S GO TIGERS, LET'S GO!
Thank you to everyone who attended the Spring Concert for our Preschool - 4th graders. Our students always do such an amazing job. Thank you to Mrs. Myers for always putting together a fabulous concert for our students.
If you were at the concert you got to hear that Mrs. Robinson won the VFW Illinois District 14 Teacher Of The Year Award. St. Teresa is truly blessed to have 3 teachers win awards this year.
Jamie Dedmon - NCEA Religion Award
Adrianne Neville - State of Illinois Meritorious Merit Award
Lauren Robinson - VFW Teacher of the Year Award
WAY TO GO TIGERS!
Registration for the 2024-2025 School Year is underway!
Thank you to all the families that have already turned in their registration forms and payment. Early registration helps set an accurate budget, purchase the correct amount of curriculum, and retain/hire staff. If your child plans on attending St. Teresa School for the 2024-2025 school year, please send in your registration as soon as possible. We look forward to another great year with our TIGER FAMILIES!
As always, we thank you for sharing your student with us. We appreciate your trust, support, and partnership.
Sincerely,

Bishop McGovern Visit
This past Wednesday, St. Teresa students had the pleasure of Bishop McGovern celebrating mass at St. Teresa Church, Blessing St. Therese Statue, and visiting our wonderful school. While Bishop McGovern visited students, he shared about where he grew up, how he knew he wanted to become a priest, and how he became a Bishop. But he also shared three simple questions with students on how to discern God's calling for their lives.
Does God want me to do this?
Do I want to do this?
Can I do this?
Although, these questions seem simple at first glance, these questions are calling us to discern what direction God wants for our lives. As Bishop McGovern challenged our students to listen to God's calling and discernment, I know this is truly a challenge that all of us can heed. For God's path is always greater than our own.

EMPOWER ILLINOIS
As you have undoubtedly seen and heard, the fight to renew the Invest in Kids Act continues. Recently, you may have seen a series of misleading news articles based on the conclusions of a deeply flawed study on the Invest in Kids Act. The WestEd study erroneously compared the academic results of our low-income scholarship students to the average public school student. That is akin to comparing “apples to zebras,” according to an independent academic expert that we asked to look at the study. I have linked our coalition response to this report here. We are asking the Illinois State Board of Education to retract the study.
As we move deeper into the legislative session, conversations about the Invest in Kids Act and whether the legislature will renew the program are heating up. Our position is clear, that the Invest in Kids Act has been an overwhelming success especially for the low-income and working-class families it is supposed to help and must be renewed. Therefore, we ask that you continue to call, email and meet with your State Representative and State Senator to demand that they reinstate the Invest in Kids Act immediately. Please contact your elected officials here. Thank you for your continued support and advocacy!
Sincerely,
Bobby Sylvester
Executive Director of Community and Government Relations
