Peak Spelling Bee!
The Spelling Bee is Friday December 13th at 1:45 p.m. and we are excited! 3rd-5th grade classes should arrive in the auditorium by 1:35 p.m. The bee will start promptly at 1:45 p.m. Please remind your scholars of a few
Spelling Bee Expectations:
*They must enter the auditorium at a level zero.
*They should remain at a level zero throughout the Bee unless it is the end of a round. *Scholars can cheer on the participants after a round has been completed.
***They are NOT allowed to help participants spell words by shouting, saying, or mouthing the words.
*They should be sitting "Indian style" and with hands in their lap.
***PLEASE MAKE SURE SCHOLARS GO TO THE RESTROOM BEFORE COMING TO THE BEE. PLEASE EXPRESS TO SCHOLARS THAT RESTROOM BREAKS SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN DURING THE SPELLING BE AS IT IS A DISTRACTION TO PARTICIPANTS***
Please encourage your scholars to use kind words towards the participants before and after the bee. It takes a lot for them to stand before a large crowd and spell. Thanks so much for your support!

Duke Tip Scholars
We know that many of us have been asking how we can best meet the needs of our highest performing scholars, in order to help them reach their highest potential. One option that was presented in the past and is now an opportunity is to have eligible scholars participate in the Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP). The Duke TIP program is available to 4th graders and above and provides opportunities and support for high achieving scholars.
The scholars that are eligible at Peak for the Duke TIP Program are attached.
In addition to having a master list of the eligible scholars at our school, I’ve included the link to resources on the Duke TIP website (https://tip.duke.edu/) - open in Chrome as Internet Explorer will block this site). Listed below is the general information and the eligibility requirements. The scholars attached met the eligibility using NWEA MAP or STAAR.
