Greetings from the Principal
Dear Riverview Families,
It is hard to believe that we have come to the end of another incredible school year here at Riverview. I am so proud to be able to serve the fantastic students here and the entire Riverview community – you have heard me say so often that I love working here, and this is reaffirmed daily by all of the inspiration our students provide each of us who are privileged to work here.
Academically, this has been another stellar year. I do not need to repeat the details of all of the wonderful ways our student excel from previous newsletters, or about the phenomenal parent support our teachers receive. We are truly grateful for the teamwork mentality that families bring with them to Riverview, and teachers and the common goal of personalized student stuccess. This week, we will continue to see this once again. The Awards ceremony on Friday will provide an uplifting end to the year, as we celebrate the achievements of so many students--the enthusiasm of the children in their exploratory areas of music, art, PE, computers, and library, as well as some fantastic community recognition for PTA activities and student student volunteer efforts. To those parents with 5th graders, the Fifth Grade Farewell will prove to be an emotionally charged day no doubt! If this is your 'final' Riverview student, please come visit us often in the future, we will miss you!
Tonight, several of our staff members will be recognized at the Board of Education meeting at 6:00 at the Administrative Office. Shelley Arbaugh was voted by Riverview teachers as the 2015-16 Teacher of Excellence. Debbie Hallier (librarian) and Jana Flannigan (OT) will be recognized for 25 years of service, and Linda Starling (kindergarten) will be recognized for 35 years of service. We are proud of their accomplishments and dedication to students, and we are lucky to have such wonderful experienced educators in the building to draw strength from.
Grade cards will be coming home on Friday, and posted to Skyward Monday, May 23 at the latest. Over the summer, please keep an eye on our website and your Skyward Inbox for up-to-date news on start up for the 16-17 school year. If you have not already turned in enrollment paperwork, please make this a priority before May 20.
Mark your calendars now for the Back-To-School Bash Thursday, August 11, 5:00-7:00 pm. Families can stop by to meet their child's teacher, see the classroom, and drop off school supplies if they were not purchased through the PTA. There will be an opportunity to join the Riverview PTA and learn about various ways to get involved, and you can learn more about after-school extracurricular activities.
As the 2015-16 school year comes to an end, I hope that everyone has a safe and relaxing summer break. I have thoroughly enjoyed continuing to get to know more families and students this school year, and I am already excited for August!
Have a terrific summer break!
Beth
