IMPORTANT NEWS
BLOOD DRIVE 11/9/21
Currently there is a blood shortage, and we need donors. The American Red Cross along with CSF will be sponsoring a blood drive on 11/9 from 8:00 am. to 2:30 pm. in the gym.
Additional information is below from the American Red Cross that may answer any questions you may have about donating.
If you have any questions, please contact cjohnson@nlmusd.org.
3rd Annual ACE Kindness Week - 11/8-11/12
ACE will be hosting our Third Annual Kindness Week, November 8th - 12th. This year we have partnered with Community Schools to jumpstart the EagleXChange, which will help bring clothes & resources to students in need on our campus.
All donations for the Hygiene and Clothing Drive can be dropped off in room 702 during Monday - Wednesday, of next week. Students who bring three hygiene items and a small bag of good condition clothes they no longer need, will receive 2 hours of community service. Service Club leaders spread the word to your members!
All hygiene products will continue to go to our families in need at Moffitt Elementary.
So, let's spread some kindness and help our community at the same time.
Electronic Devices
On Wednesday, we held our first Admin Zoom Room where Dr. Padilla shared the school policy on electronic devices.
Why now? Although this policy is published in our Parent/Student Handbook, sometimes students need a reminder. Further, in order for any policy to be effective, it needs to be consistent across campus. Because this is the existing published policy and they have become a disruption to the learning environment, we began with this topic. Please note that as a parent, you can reach your child during school hours by calling the main office anytime.
If you are interested in viewing the slides that were shared with your student, please click on the following link: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1FLgEHhuBmMmwOyyB2fHBkzsPodH4bv05tKppNqXciz0/edit?usp=sharing . We did not record this time but will moving forward.
Next week, we will be discussing Tardies & Absences.

ATHLETICS
Feature Student Athlete: Melanie Hernandez
Our feature student athlete of the week is Melanie Hernandez. Melanie has only been at Glenn for about 3 months. In fact, she has only been in the country for that long and is already making her mark! Melanie is an English Learner who has successfully earned a 3.5 GPA this semester, but this is not her only achievement. Melanie is a cross country runner and has qualified for CIF in her first year of competition! She will compete in Division 4 CIF playoffs on Friday, Nov. 12th at Mt. Sac, so make sure to wish her luck if you see her around.
Melanie is still trying to figure things out in a new country. She is still trying to figure out her post high school plans, but she does know that she wants to go to college and hopefully study to be a doctor or something in the sciences.
Aside from cross country, Melanie intends to participate in track & field in the spring. Her hobbies are watching Netflix and jogging (go figure!) She says that she finds running therapeutic and an opportunity to relax and not think about too much. Melanie is soft spoken, but you can tell she is strong and determined.
Melanie would like to thank her family for all of their love and support, but also all of her teachers here at Glenn that have made her feel right at home. Best of luck on Friday, Melanie! You have the entire school cheering you on and supporting you.
