Principal News
Thank you for an amazing 22-23 school year!
As the school year comes to an end, I am reminded that the first class to matriculate from kindergarten through 5th grade is preparing to be promoted. My heart is both heavy to see them move on and also full of great joy for the tremendous promise in each one.
It is hard to believe that our 5th grade students walked through the gates 6 years ago as kindergarteners. I look forward to seeing and hearing about all the great things that they accomplish in middle school and beyond.
I hope everyone has a wonderful summer!
Help Wanted
Monday and Tuesday mornings were phenomenal! Thank you! Wednesday, students began gathering at the gate far too early. As a reminder - do NOT drop off students until the gate is opened at 8:30.
The new railing at the front of the school is an intentional addition to keep our students and staff safe. To that end, please observe the following:
- Stay out of the dirt and garden areas and keep children out of these areas
- Do not ask/encourage students to cross over/under the railing
- Do not allow students (and their siblings) to climb on or sit on the railing
- Do not sit on or climb on the railing
- Do not drop your child off before the gate is open in the morning
- Please do not linger near the door/gate before school as we need to keep this area clear
Thank you so much for helping us to keep the front of the school clear and a safe place for staff and students.
Important Calendar Information
Please plan family vacations and trips around the district calendar. As a project-based school where students work in collaborative groups, it is detrimental to the group when a member is missing. Attendance is critical to all students' success.
Here is next year's calendar. Please notice that the Thanksgiving Break has been extended one day. Wednesday, November 22nd has been added.
Bus Change
Thank you for your patience this year as bus changes have be so frequent. We have just learned from the transportation department that we will only have three buses for the remainder of the year. Please see the new afternoon bus times below. (we will not be making new bus tags for Harelson and Mesa Verde students.) If you have questions or concerns about these times, or if you are unable to track your child’s bus on the bus tracking system, please call the transportation department 520-696-3780
Summer School
We are getting many questions about summer school. If we run a summer program, it will be extremely small and by invite only (24 students max). Summer School had been paid with COVID relief money and that money has just about dried up.
