Counselor Corner
Hello and welcome back to the Counselor's Corner! My name is Kristen Lombardo and I am your child’s school counselor. Our Annual Great Kindness Challenge was a success. The grade level that performed the most kind deeds was 4th grade. The grade level that showed the most spirit throughout the week was 3rd grade with 5th grade following closely behind. Thank you for all of your support with this challenge. In February, we celebrate National School Counselors Week! Please click HERE to read more about the Role of your School Counselor in the East Greenwich Township School District.
This is the time of year we start setting goals for the new year. For this reason, I am working with all grade levels on growth mindset. We are spending time learning how to set goals. During these lessons we discuss that in order to have a goal it must be attainable, measurable, and that they must have a plan of how they will accomplish this goal. In third and fourth grade, we watched a short video and discussed the definition of goals and perseverance. We then set a goal for 2022. Our fifth and sixth graders watched a video called, “One Word”. They will be asked to choose one word they want to identify with in 2022. They will define the word, why it is important, and then list examples of how they will live that word this year. The classes will make a poster with their word on it that will hang in their classrooms as a reminder throughout the year. Please ask your students about their goal or their “one word”. If you are interested in checking out any of my lessons they are posted in my google classroom. All students have access to my google classroom.
I am available if you have any questions or concerns. It is important that we all work together. I can be reached by email at lombardok@eastgreenwich.k12.nj.us or by phone at (856)423-0412 ext. 1051. I look forward to working with you and your child.
Kindly,
Kristen Lombardo
