Technology Integration & Bring Your Own Device
As we prepare the building of our school culture and community, it is essential to think about how technology will support us in the success of every child. To best support our students we are going to not only open with devices provided from the district, but also with the Bring Your Own Device initiative.
We recognize that BYOD will be a shift for some families. However, please know the policies and practices will be in place to help establish a safe learning environment. A page on our website has been created to provide support and additional information to our entire school community.
Meet our Crew!

Ms. Kiger ~ Special Education
Hi! My name is Holly Kiger and I’m excited to be joining the Buckhorn Creek team! I have been teaching in Wake County since 2001. I love working with the students, seeing them learn, gain confidence and grow! I enjoy building relationships with students and families. I grew up in Northern NY, (dairy farm country) and moved to N.C. in 1996.
I attended Appalachian State University, majoring in Special Education with a concentration in Psychology. I am married, and have two children (both are students in Wake County schools). In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading and watching movies.
Ms. Carley ~ 3rd Grade
I graduated in 2013 with my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. In 2015, I graduated from Concordia University with a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction: TESOL.
Living in Florida, I was very far from my family and am now fortunate to be living close to my sister, mother and god daughter, Alexia. I also have another god daughter, Lacey, who lives in New York. I love spending time with my family.
The last 2 years that I taught in Florida, I coached a dance team which is something I enjoyed very much having participated in one myself through middle and high school.
My belief in the classroom is to inspire children to learn more about the world around them, not only what is taught in school. How does what we learn in school relate to our everyday lives? I also strive to build meaningful relationships with my students and hope to make them love coming to school every day.
Ms. Watson ~ Lead Secretary
Hi! My name is Leslie Watson. I am proud to become a Buccaneer! Working in schools has been a part of my life for several years as a parent, PTA member, volunteer, and an employee. My career in Wake county officially began in 2006 as a Kindergarten TA at Farmington Woods Elementary. I’ve worked as a Lead Secretary since 2013. I am excited to join the Buccaneer staff in the office as the Lead Secretary.
My husband and I have 4 children and enjoy spending time together as a family. As three of our children have graduated from Appalachian State University and our youngest is in High School. Our favorite family destination is the NC mountains and travel to visit family in South Carolina.
I look forward to working with the students and families of Buckhorn Creek Elementary.
