Health Update
Decreased COVID-19 Positivity Rates
For several weeks our district has seen significant and sustained declines in COVID-19 positivity rates and there has not been an outbreak in our schools since lifting the mask mandate (an outbreak is defined as five or more positive and/or probable cases tied to an original case). Health officials have shared they estimate about 90% of Coloradans have developed immunity, whether through natural infection or vaccination. Staff and students have been respectful and caring as people continue to make choices for themselves and their families around masks.
Reminder of COVID-19 Protocols
Our district continues to work closely with Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH) to stay informed on COVID-19 cases in the county, district, and our schools. Jeffco Public Schools will continue to do the following:
- Encourage the layering of mitigation strategies
- 5-day isolation still required for individuals who test positive
- All students and staff who test positive for COVID-19 will continue to be required to isolate at home and stay away from others for five days. Upon return, it is highly recommended that individuals wear their masks at school for the following five days.
