From the Principal
Election Day, Tuesday November 3, will be an eLearning day for students; our Ranger students will not be present at school in person. RP will prepare students for eLearning activities in advance. Please see the letter below for more details regarding the learning expectations for this day.
Academics. Meetings with teachers during the past week to discuss student achievement in reading and math yielded a great deal of ongoing concern with the overall engagement of students in application day learning activities. Application day activities are designed to reinforce classroom learning and practice essential skills that will support advancement in the curriculum. Students need your continued support in "going to school" 5 days a week. Balancing your students' learning along with a job or caretaker's schedule is no easy feat. Check out this brief internet article for some simple ideas that can support the creation of a more effective student learning environment at home:
Tips For Setting Up An At-Home Learning Environment For Young Students
Safety. Recent data shows that Covid cases are on the rise in Indiana, as is the Covid test positivity rate in Marion County. This is a good time to remind patrons of MSD Warren Township's S.A.F.E Reopening plan. Though RP and Warren have protocols in place to respond to Covid, our best defense is prevention! The consistent and correct wearing of face coverings, social distancing, and frequent handwashing and sanitizing continue to serve as our best practices in preventing Covid. Kids will be reminded frequently, and the cooperation of all is demanded. Thank you for reinforcing the importance of these safety practices with your students as well.
Second Semester School Options. Families wanting to transition their students' classroom environment from in-person to virtual or visa-versa will have the opportunity to do so Nov 13 to Nov 24th. This will be the last opportunity to change the classroom environment for the 20-21 school year. The decision families make will be for the entirety of 2nd semester (3rd and 4th quarters). The form to complete to change school options will appear on the school website's banner beginning November 13.
Feedback. Students and teachers have completed the first quarter of school for the 2020-2021 school year. We would now like to look back and determine what went well, as well as look ahead to the rest of the school year and identify areas of growth. As a valued partner, we would like your input on how MSD Warren is doing with health and safety measures, communication, and family needs as we continue to navigate these unprecedented times. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey via the link. The survey window continues to be open through Monday, November 2nd: https://surveys.panoramaed.com/msdwarren/familyfall2020
These are difficult times, and school will press on for the benefit of our kids both now and on the other side of our current struggles. Please reach out to teachers, counselors and administrators when support is needed. Together, #warrenwill!
Proud to be a Ranger,
John Kleine
