Tree Dedication
On April 19th 1924, Oakland School opened its doors to students to grow, learn, and play. Next Friday April 19th 2024, the City of Royal Oak and Royal Oak Schools will be kicking off the celebration of Oakland Elementary Through The Ages:100 Years of Excellence by dedicating a new oak tree for the grounds. There will be a short ceremony starting at 3:40. Families and students are encouraged to come to the east lawn after pick up and students in attendance will have the opportunity to participate in the ceremony.

First Day of School Supplies
We have an exciting new opportunity for our Oakland families this year! We are partnering with 1st Day School Supplies to offer an easy way for parents to purchase school supplies for their kids for the upcoming school year. The kits are available for purchase online and will be delivered to school before the start of the new school year. Your student will show up on the first day of school and their supply kit will be waiting for them in their classroom.
Online ordering is open now through July 1st. I know it seems early, but before you know it, summer will be here. It's important you order your supplies before it's too late or supplies run out. Start the school year with the exact supplies your teacher requested and give your child the confidence they need to conquer next year! Order today! Please reach out if you have any questions.

2023-2024 Free and Reduced Lunch and EBT Cards
Dear Oakland Families,
In each of the past several years Royal Oak Schools has been able to offer free meals during the summer months to Oakland families. Qualifying for this program requires a certain percent of our population to qualify for the federal free/reduced lunch program. This year we have a unique circumstance in which all kids were provided free breakfast and lunch during the school year without completing the necessary federal paperwork to officially enroll in the free lunch program. As a result, this year Oakland is not quite to the threshold of qualifying for a summer lunch program for all of our kids. We suspect that there are still families out there that would qualify but have not submitted the documentation. A summer lunch program would be a great thing for our community and want to put out one last plea for families who have qualified for the federal lunch program in the past or who may qualify now, to please take a few minutes to complete the attached application.
If we reach the threshold for summer lunch programing one additional benefit to families that qualify is that they will also receive a $120 EBT card to help provide summer meals for the family.
Your participation in this program benefits your family and supports our entire community. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance with the application process.

All enrollments will be virtual including uploading of the required documentation to the pre-enrollment. Please see the "How to Enroll" portion of the Enrollment website for more information. To watch a short video regarding the enrollment process, click here.
Elementary transfer requests for priority consideration will be accepted between February 1 - February 29, 2024.
Kindergarten Age Requirements
A resident child must be five (5) years of age on or before September 1st in order to be eligible to attend kindergarten.
If a child is not five (5) years of age by the September 1st enrollment eligibility date, but will be five (5) years of age no later than December 1st, the parent/guardian may still enroll the child in kindergarten. The parent must notify the school district, in writing, prior to the beginning of the school year. Notification, by way of a completed Kindergarten Age Waiver, must be received in order for a child born between September 1 and December 1 to be enrolled in kindergarten.
