Keeping Up with Kipling!
October 8, 2021
I hope you all had a wonderful week! It was quite a busy week at Kipling School! It felt great and keeps our students on their toes!
Thank you to all of you that filled out the survey regarding this weekly newsletter! Around 75 people filled out the survey giving me MANY great ideas. I would like to say I have a clear vision about how to move the newsletter forward and what it needs to look like. Unfortunately, as you might guess, there were many completely contradictory opinions. A few of you mentioned that you loved the new Sunday Supplement, however, a few of you asked me to please stop sending those (for very valid reasons - thank you for that input). It is clear that many of you wanted to know about the Kipling Krew. I will look at ways to get that up and running soon. There were a few other ideas that I hope to try to implement over the next few weeks. Thank you again for your help to make this a more useful tool to you!
As always, please let me know if you have any questions.
Have a great week!

Cold and Flu
With the cold and flu season upon us, we recognize that it can feel overwhelming when your child becomes sick and you need to find out whether or not they have COVID-19.
As you head into the weekend, if your child develops any COVID symptoms that would prevent them from passing their morning certification on Monday morning, please get your child a COVID test. Rapid testing is acceptable if drawn within 48 hours of symptom development and test results should be emailed to our school nurse, Edina Szabo, at eszabo@dps109.org. At-home tests are currently not accepted by the Lake County Health Department. If you are unsure about testing needs, please feel free to contact Nurse Szabo.
During the school week, if a child wakes up with COVID symptoms, please contact Nurse Szabo and plan to keep your child home from school along with their unvaccinated siblings. Nurse Szabo can help arrange for your child to get a COVID test after school hours at the district office.
Wishing everyone good health as we head into the fall season!

Volunteers at School
A quick reminder, that all volunteers or individuals spending prolonged time in one of our buildings are required to be vaccinated or provide proof of a negative COVID test.
If you are coming to our building to volunteer, please remember these things:
-Wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status
-Bring a photo ID to check in at the front office
-Bring your proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test (not self-administered) from within the last week
-Complete a Covid self-certification prior to coming to school
Thank you for your cooperation and please contact Eric Steckling (esteckling@dps109.org) if you have any questions.
What is Test To Stay?
This year, fewer students are needing to be quarantined if they are a close contact to a COVID-19 case, thanks to the Lake County Health Department's "Test To Stay" protocol. Click here to read more from the district about it.
