2023 November Issue
Welcome back!
I trust your winter break provided moments of relaxation and joy. As we enter the second semester, I'm excited to reconnect with our students and families. We have an array of engaging events and activities ahead, including spirited pep rallies, the annual color run, concerts, plays, performances, Pop Show, athletic events, parent empowerment forums, Saturday Knights, and more. The date for each of these events is posted on our school website. Your involvement is crucial to our school community, so please mark your calendars for these upcoming events that contribute to the lively spirit of Kahla Middle School.
A gentle reminder to prioritize attendance – each school day is an opportunity for growth and learning. Your support in encouraging regular attendance ensures your child remains connected and engaged in their educational journey. Consult the district calendar to plan appointments, making use of staff work days and professional development days when students have time off.
At Kahla, our commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all students remains steadfast. Let's make this semester a time of shared experiences, positive moments, and continued academic success.
Wishing you a fantastic start to the second semester, filled with joy, achievements, and meaningful connections. Looking forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!
Warm regards,
Joshua Carroll
Principal
Code of Conduct & Handbook Feedback
It’s that time of year! Code of Conduct & Handbook Feedback forms will soon be available on the district website in Spanish and English. Staff, student, and parent voice is critical to the integrity of the developmental process for these district documents. We ask principals to please solicit feedback from all stakeholders by including these in parent newsletters, faculty meetings, CPOC meetings, and student advisory classes to name a few. Feedback forms are due by February 09, 2024.
MLK Day of Service
The Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is a defining moment each year when Americans across the country step up to make our communities more equitable and take action to create the Beloved Community of Dr. King’s dream. While Dr. King believed the Beloved Community was possible, he acknowledged and fought for systemic change. His example is our call to action.
Observed each year on the third Monday in January, MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. AmeriCorps has been charged with leading this effort for the past quarter century.
Making time to volunteer for MLK Day of Service is a great way to engage with your community while honoring the legacy of Dr. King. Whether you plan on cleaning up a public space, mentoring a young person, or assisting those who are food insecure, what you do makes a world of difference.
