FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Dear FJVD Families,
We've made it to May! I'm looking forward to warmer weather, more daylight, and preparations for our end of year activities - even if they will look a little differently this year.
With Teacher Appreciation Week next week, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible work of our educators. Reviewing their lessons from today, here are just a few of the amazing things I witnessed:
- Circle Time via Video
- Youtube Phonics Lessons & Read Alouds
- "Indoor Recess" Activities
- Zoom Science Lessons
- Student Created Videos & Projects
- Virtual Field Trips
And much, much more! Distance learning isn't easy, and we haven't yet perfected every element, but I am so grateful for the creativity, dedication, and hard work of our faculty and staff.
If you'd like to share more about your distance learning experience, or if you have questions or concerns you'd like to discuss, please consider joining me at the Principal's Office Hours on Thursday, May 7th beginning at 8:00am. You can sign up to join me Thursday by completing this Google Form. Zoom invitations to the meeting will be sent out the evening before.
In addition, a few important announcements for the 2020-2021 Academic Year;
Donnelly's Uniforms
Looking to purchase uniforms for next year? Donnelly's has shifted to an online ordering system during the current crisis and is currently offering 20% off and free alterations on all orders placed by June 15th. Learn more about ordering online from Donnelly's by viewing the flyer here.
Busing for Coventry Residents
If you reside in Coventry and your child is planning on taking the bus to school next year, please complete the registration from attached here and submit via email as soon as possible (and no later than July 31). This form should be completed and submitted by all Coventry residents interested in taking the bus for the 2020-2021 year, regardless of whether or not you were registered to take the bus this year.
Speaking of the 2020-2021 academic year, don't forget that Enrollment Contracts are due no later than May 15th! In addition, the $200 per student Enrollment Fee due with the contract is being reduced to $100 per student through May 15th. See below for more details.
Lastly, we want to do all that we can to continue to support the emotional and psychological health of our students and families. We know that the current crisis is certainly taking a toll on the social-emotional health of all the members of our community. With this in mind, if you are looking for resources for your child and your family to help navigate this challenging time, I would recommend viewing some of the family resources from the Child Mind Institute, which you can find available for free here: https://childmind.org/audience/for-families/. In addition, please reach out to the school if there is any way we can be of assistance!
We've been promised some sunshine this week - so I want to encourage all of our students to get outside and enjoy the beautiful spring weather! Have a great weekend, all!
God bless and Go Saints!
Sincerely,
Mr. Peloquin

Great work, all - and thank you Mr. Godin and Mrs. Adamo!
Upcoming Dates and Reminders
Enrollment Contracts - Due May 15th
In addition, the $200 per student Enrollment Fee due with the contract is being reduced to $100 per student through May 15th.
Please note, the enrollment fee is rolled into tuition and credited directly towards tuition payments. It is not an additional fee. Thus, if you have already submitted your Enrollment Contract and paid the enrollment fee of $200, your overall tuition for 2020-2021 has been credited $200.00. Going forward, those paying the $100.00 reduced enrollment fee will have their tuition for 2020-2021 credited only $100.00.
With current social distancing efforts in place, we kindly request that you mail enrollment contracts to the school with payment, or, if preferred, scan the contract and email to patriciajarvis@fjvd.org and mail your payment separately.

Aluminum Can Tab Collection
What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected
Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence
How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.
Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
