Vivaldi's Early Life.
Vivaldi was born in Venice on May 4, 1678 during the Baroque period. He was baptized immediately after birth due to "Danger of Death". Vivaldi had 4 sisters and 4 brothers. At age 15 he began to study to become a priest. Vivaldi had a medical problem named "Tightening of the chest" which would today be called asthma. However, his medical problem did not prevent him from engaging in many musical activities. His father was his only important teacher, and they sometimes played the violin together in church.
