Simile
*Definition : a figure of speech using the comparison of one thing with another, using like or as. *Text Example : ''...about how like a lemon was.'' *Example : The girl looked like a flower, as her hair flowed in the wind.
Metaphor
* Definition : a figure of speech using the comparison of one thing with another, WITHOUT using like or as . *Text Example : ''...they were remembering gold or a yellow crayon or a coin large enough to buy the world.'' *Example : The catcher on the softball team was a log behind the diamond the whole game.
Personification
*Definition : is to give human traits to something non-human *Text Example : ''It showed its face to the stunned world.'' *Example : The rock glared at me with its shinny eyes.
Hyperbole
*Definition : a exaggeration or overstatement used for effect. *Text Example : ''A thousand had been crushed under the rain ... a thousand times to be crushed again.'' *Example : I'm so tired i could sleep for days.
Alliteration
