Language Arts
We will look at Tall Tales from the American West during the next two weeks.

During our Reading Workshop lessons we will complete our lessons on : Paying Close Attention to Authors.
Reading Workshop is composed of several components. Each day from 9:30 until 11:30 students are engaged in shared reading, word study, independent practice, reading workshop, grammar and writing workshop.
I Can Statements for Language Arts
I CAN ask and answer questions in order to demonstrate understanding (who, what, when, where, why).
I CAN recount stories that had a cultural impact on the United States of America.
I CAN describe how characters respond to major events and challenges.
I CAN pay attention to the author's purpose.
I CAN use what I read to improve my writing.
Social Studies
We will study Tall Tales and their cultural significance.
Math
I CAN Statements for Math
I CAN count up and down between 100 and 220 using ones and tens.
I CAN count up and down between 90 and 1,000 using ones, tens and hundreds.
I CAN count up to 1,000 on the place value chart.

Homework
Trussville City Schools has recommended that each student complete between 45 minutes and one hour per week of Dream Box. Please, DO NOT assist your child with Dream Box activities. They should work on their own. The computer adaptive program will not work appropriately if they receive assistance. Please complete at least 30 minutes of DreamBox at home each week.
Read daily. Raz-Kids may also be used for reading time. The reading calendar will be due on November 1st.
